When babies only take little snacks at the breast or bottle all day long, they never really get full… and that can throw everything off.
If your baby is falling asleep after just a couple minutes of feeding, then waking 30–45 minutes later to eat again, you’re likely stuck in a snacking cycle.
Here’s what’s actually happening:
They aren’t getting enough milk in one sitting to feel full and settled. So they wake early, take another small feed, and the pattern keeps repeating.
So if this isn’t what your feeding goals looks like, good news! It is something we can change.
Fuller feeds at the breast matter too—
✅ They help babies sleep longer stretches
✅ They support your milk supply
✅ They make feeds feel easier and more predictable
✅ And they help your baby get the calories they need during the day, so they’re not making up for it all night long
But let’s be clear—
👉 Fuller feeds does not mean watching the clock or pushing your baby to go 2–3 hours between feeds.
👉 We always feed our babies when they show hunger cues.
👉 Full feeds and responsive feeding go hand in hand.
👉 And cluster feeding? Totally normal for newborns. We leave room for it.
Breaking the snacking cycle takes time, intention, and a plan that works for your baby.
🤍 If this sounds familiar, know you’re not doing anything wrong—and you don’t have to figure it out alone.
