While prenatal imaging is the most famous use of this technology, we actually don't perform obstetric ultrasounds here at Innovative Medical Imaging. If your doctor does give you a referral for women’s health imaging (like an ultrasound or DEXA scan), remember this: you are in the driver’s seat. It’s hard to believe that something as obvious as washing our hands was once considered completely unnecessary by doctors!

In fact, it wasn't until the mid-1800s - nearly 180 years ago - that the medical community realized the simple act of handwashing could drastically reduce infection rates. It completely revolutionized modern medicine.

During the height of COVID-19, we heard about hand hygiene constantly, but as things have returned to normal, it’s easy to let those habits slip. Today is a great reminder to keep it up! CT scan or MRI? If you’ve ever mixed the two up, don't worry- it’s one of the most common questions we get!

Here is the simple breakdown:

CT scans use X-ray technology to take fast, detailed cross-sectional pictures. We love them for quickly looking at bone structures and the chest. MRIs, on the other hand, use powerful magnets and radio waves (zero radiation!) to create incredibly detailed images of soft tissues. If we need to look closely at a torn ligament, a joint, or the brain, an MRI is usually the way to go.

The bottom line? Your doctor will choose the right tool for the job! Whether you need a quick CT or a detailed MRI, the team at Innovative Medical Imaging is here to make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
