Idaho Lapiplasty Bunion Surgery Specialists

Bunions are a common complaint for our podiatry patients. Bunion deformities may just be unsightly in the early stages, but they become more and more painful as the condition progresses. Eventually, an untreated bunion can cause long-lasting problems such as nerve injury, arthritis, and lost range of motion.

If conservative treatments for bunions aren’t enough, you may need surgery to realign your big toe. Our podiatrists are proud to offer a revolutionary treatment option that does more than just remove the deformity. It stabilizes the big toe joint on every axis to reduce the risk of recurrence—and best of all, it allows patients to walk within days of surgery.

Causes of Bunions Explained by Our Twin Falls Podiatrist

This condition develops in the first metatarsophalangeal joint (base of the big toe, where the toe connects to the foot). This joint is comprised of the bone in the toe (phalange) and the long bone in the foot (metatarsal bone).

When the metatarsal bone starts angling outwards as the phalange angles inwards, it leads to the formation of a bump on the inside edge of the foot.

Is your child complaining about foot or heel pain? 👣

Children’s feet are still growing — and issues like flat feet, heel pain, ingrown toenails, or sports injuries shouldn’t be ignored. Early evaluation can prevent long-term problems and help your child stay active and pain-free.

In my Twin Falls practice, I provide expert pediatric foot care tailored specifically to growing feet. My goal is to diagnose concerns early, provide effective treatment, and support healthy development every step of the way.

What should I know before I have PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy to treat my foot pain?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a type of regenerative medicine that uses the body's natural healing process to treat foot pain. The procedure involves using your own blood plasma to promote healing and reduce pain. It is done by drawing a small amount of your blood and processing it to concentrate the platelets, which are then injected into the site of injury or pain in your foot.

Before considering PRP therapy, talk to our experienced podiatrist to understand the potential risks and benefits associated with the therapy and to determine whether it is the right treatment option for your individual needs.

How To Treat Diabetic Foot Calluses and Prevent Ulcers With Podiatrist Care

Living with diabetes can be a challenging experience, with a range of complications to manage and monitor. One common issue that people with diabetes may face is the development of calluses on their feet. While calluses are a relatively common problem, they can be particularly problematic for those with diabetes. This is because diabetes can cause nerve damage, leading to a loss of feeling in the feet. As a result, people with diabetes may not feel when they have a callus, which can cause the condition to worsen and eventually develop into a foot ulcer. To prevent this from happening, see our Twin Falls Podiatrist at the first sign to treat calluses if you have diabetes.

What Are the Complications of Heel Fissures in Diabetes?

Cracked heels, known as heel fissures, can be a common foot problem, particularly for individuals with diabetes. These fissures occur when the skin on the heels becomes dry, thickened, and begins to split. If you have diabetes, this seemingly harmless condition can lead to severe complications. Consulting an experienced diabetic foot care podiatrist at the first signs if you have cracked heels it is highly recommended for proper diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care.
