Often, a patient gets palatal expansion to work on the width of the airway. However, when the tongue can rest correctly and swallow with a greater range of motion, it drives the lower jaw downward and forward, allowing for optimal depth of the airway. An improved facial profile is the bonus.

A three year old can benefit from restoring correct oral motor function. Retractors were not used in the first picture because she was scared. This was three sessions of therapy over a three month period. Slow and steady, and lots of fun and trust. I’m so excited for her continued growth! 😁

3 weeks post op frenuloplasty check up. This is how it should look. Myofunctional Therapy preparations and the skill set of the surgeon are both imperative for success. We are continuing swallow rehabilitation and body work. I’m excited for her to finish this journey. 👅😁🫶🏻
