The 3 Biggest Metabolism Mistakes Women Make

I see these mistakes constantly when women come to me for help with hormones and weight.

Mistake #1 — Undereating protein

Women in midlife need much more protein than they think to preserve muscle and support metabolism.

One hormone that rarely gets talked about in women’s health is ghrelin.

Ghrelin is known as the hunger hormone.

When ghrelin is elevated you may experience:

• constant hunger
• late-night cravings
• difficulty feeling full
• weight gain around the midsection

In midlife, ghrelin and insulin signaling often become dysregulated.

This is one reason many women feel like their metabolism has completely changed overnight.

Why Women Over 40 Suddenly Gain Belly Fat

Most women think belly fat is just about eating too much or not exercising enough.

But what I see in my practice is that midlife metabolism changes because of hormones, stress, and inflammation.

Here are the 3 biggest drivers I see:

✔ Insulin resistance
✔ Cortisol and nervous system stress
✔ Loss of lean muscle as estrogen declines

When these are out of balance, the body shifts into fat-storage mode, especially around the belly.

Hi, I’m Diane Marie — a holistic practitioner, with a Master's Degree in Physiology & finishing my Traditional Naturopathic Doctorate, who helps women uncover the root causes of their health struggles so they can feel like themselves again.

My journey into holistic health began more than 20 years ago.

As an Autism mom, I was pushed to search for deeper answers and truly learn how the body heals. That journey led me into nutrition, detox pathways, nervous system support, and holistic healing.

Later in life, I experienced the devastating loss of one of my children who now runs in Heaven. That season of grief deepened my faith and strengthened my calling to help others restore their health physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Those experiences shaped the way I practice today — focusing on root causes instead of symptoms and helping people rebuild their health from the foundations up.



🌿 A LITTLE ABOUT MY LIFE

Outside of my practice, I live a simple life on our homestead in East Texas.

You’ll usually find me:

🐴 spending time with our horses
🐶 raising and loving our Corgis
🌿 enjoying homestead life and natural living

Most importantly, my life and work are rooted in faith. I believe God designed the body with an incredible ability to heal when we support it the right way.

Doing all the right things… and still feeling stuck.

So you blame yourself.
More restriction. More cardio. Less food.

But this isn’t a discipline problem.
It’s a hormonal and metabolic overload problem.
