🌟✈️ NOW REGISTERING: “Onboard for Adventure” at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport! ✈️🌟
In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, the Tyler Junior College Student Physical Therapist Assistant Organization is proud to host a special event designed just for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.
🗓 Saturday, April 26, 2025
🕚 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📍 Tyler Pounds Regional Airport
💙 Completely FREE to attend!
What is "Onboard for Adventure"?
It’s a supportive, sensory-friendly simulation of the airport experience — no actual flying involved — aimed at reducing anxiety and building confidence for future travel. Families will have the chance to go through:
✈️ Airport-style check-in
✈️ TSA security screening (with real TSA staff)
✈️ Walking down the jet bridge as if boarding a plane
Our goal is to make the airport a little less overwhelming — and a lot more familiar — in a low-pressure, safe environment.
✈️ Who is this event for?
“Onboard for Adventure” is especially designed for individuals who have never traveled by air or who have previously had a stressful or challenging airport experience.
We want to offer families the opportunity to build confidence, reduce anxiety, and become familiar with the airport environment — all in a calm, supportive, and sensory-considerate setting. Whether it's your first time navigating the airport or you're looking to try again after a tough experience, this event is for YOU. 💙
👨👩👧👦 Space is limited to 120 total, and each participant can bring up to 5 additional family members. Groups will be staggered throughout the event to keep things relaxed and accessible for all.
✅ Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, April 22.
📩 Event details and arrival instructions will be emailed by Wednesday, April 23.
