Champions for Children of Smith County Helping Children Start School Ready To Learn and Develop Their Full Potential

Champions' provides training, mentoring and tools to childcare teachers and individual interventions to children with developmental delays and behavioral challenges. Professional teacher training, consultation and mentoring ensure that teachers are trained to deliver developmentally appropriate educational activities. Champions' Resource Room provides a variety of (free) tools and materials to ensure that teachers have access to age-appropriate materials for use in their classrooms. Champions' staff also provide individual interventions to children who present developmental delays or behavioral challenges through our Brain Gym® , counseling and our autism program.

Starting early... Healthy development in the early years (particularly birth to three) provides the building blocks for educational achievement, economic productivity, responsible citizenship, lifelong health, strong communities, and successful parenting of the next generation. What can we do during this incredibly important period to ensure that children have a strong foundation for future development? (Source: American Academy of Pediatrics) Champions for Children is working to ensure parents and caregivers have access to developmental resources and screenings; we're providing the critical and timely training early educators need; and we're helping families find and receive support and resources for their children. Champions is helping provide strong foundations for East Texas children.

👶 Children don’t “grow out” of their developmental delays and disabilities. They need secure relationships, developmental guidance, and access to resources like developmental screenings and early intervention services for support.

Communication and trust between caregivers, healthcare providers, and early childhood professionals are essential to providing the highest-quality of care to the child. Creating a supportive and inclusive ecosystem around the family creates a nurturing environment for the caregiver-child relationship to thrive and lays the foundation for healthy developmental outcomes 🪴🧠

Our Story

Champions' provides training, mentoring and tools to childcare teachers and individual interventions to children with developmental delays and behavioral challenges. Champions' Resource Room provides a variety of (free) tools and materials to ensure that teachers have access to age-appropriate materials for use in their classrooms.

Champions' staff also provide individual interventions to children who present developmental delays or behavioral challenges through our Brain Gym® and Nurturing Pathways®.

In 2019, Champions for Children launched an Autism Education and Resources program to help parents identify tools and services to help their child be successful. With a Licensed Professional Counselor to provide counseling and play therapy, Champions for Children is supporting children and families in our community!
