Midwives are essential in supporting breastfeeding through various means:

1. We provide new mamas with vital information about the benefits of breastfeeding, including its nutritional advantages for baby and health benefits for mamas.

2. We offer hands-on assistance with latch techniques, positioning, and managing any challenges that may arise, ensuring that mamas feel comfortable and confident.

3. Transitioning to motherhood can be overwhelming. We offer emotional encouragement, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety, which can positively impact breastfeeding success.

4. We offer postpartum visits to monitor progress, addressing issues early on and reinforcing positive breastfeeding practices.

5. We connect families with local breastfeeding support groups or lactation consultants, fostering a community of support that extends beyond the immediate postpartum period.

By combining these elements, midwives significantly contribute to increasing breastfeeding rates and promoting long-term health for mothers and their babies.

This family tree is special! We share the same heart for the women in this community ♥️

This group has so many connections that it feels like a family. It also has the strength of midwives coming from other areas to bring new wisdom and skills into the group.

If we were to put lines to all the women we have worked with in different offices, practices and helping at births, it would begin to look like a football play book.

So happy Moxie got to host these amazing midwives today as we learned about additional resources in our community so that we can meet the needs of our clients and their families!

Our ETMA meeting was so informative and empowering as Program Manager Laura Young from UT Tyler Pchychiatry and Behavioral Medicine spoke to our group.

ETMA has joined forces with their program to better our clients access to mental health care providers, social workers, and support groups through out their journey in pregnancy and the beginning of motherhood.

Laura acknowledged in her presentation the incredible benefits women have in being cared for by a midwife and offered tools to ensure our assessments improve and resources increase to safe guard our beloved clients.

We are thrilled to be a part of this growing program and know this will be an incredible blessing to many families across East Texas.
