An interesting study and just another reason we are passionate about helping babies breastfeed!

An NIH-funded study found that infants who had more diverse bacteria in their gut had lower childhood blood pressure. This protective association was stronger if they were breastfed for at least six months. Read more: https://bit.ly/3DklGnh

White spots refer to the demineralization. This is an erosion of the enamel that covers your child’s tooth. Due to the extensive build-up of bacteria, this demineralization may indicate tooth decay.

At Mosaic we take a conservative approach to cavities in baby teeth. This aims to save the tooth as long as possible, in hopes that they'll just fall out in their own time. It also minimizes dental trauma for your child and is easier easier on your pocketbook. If you have concerns about your child's "white spots" don't hesitate to schedule with us!

Did you know chronic mouth breathing reduces the amount of saliva produced by the salivary glands? Saliva neutralizes acids and washes away plaque and food debris. Higher acid levels in the mouth can cause deterioration in the protective enamel. So, without enough saliva, the mouth becomes dry and more susceptible to cavities!!
