Happy birthday to Ms. Darlene, she turned 82 years young on Monday. Her daughter Robin brought her this beautiful cake, and it was delicious, and all the residents and care partners song happy birthday to her. She is very loved by our care partners, especially Delia.

Ms. Darlene loved decorating her home and baking and arranging flowers before coming to Brookdale Tyler East. Now she enjoys her peace and quiet and visiting with family and friends.

Our residents at Brookdale Tyler East had a chance to hear Mr. Bob McClendon sing his smooth jazzy tunes.

Bob enjoys singing songs from the genre of Frank Sinatra, Johnnie Mathias and many others.
Resident Mr. Sherman really enjoys this jazzy kind of music because he was a drummer for a jazz band in Germany, Paris and other places. He really enjoyed every moment of it.

It was great to see all the smiles on the residents' faces.

It was a great afternoon for our residents to hear Ms. Ann talk about her experience being a Park Ranger.

She spoke about her time when she had to drive a trash truck on the camp site, and her encounter when she and a bear came face to face with each other and how her and the bear scared each other.

Ms. Ann is such a great storyteller and a lively person, that she had all of us laughing. It was so much fun listening to her stories about being a Park Ranger.

Dr. Larry has been a blessing to our residents and his teachings on Growing Old Gracefully.

It is such a privilege to be a part of such a wonderful man who has written so many books and traveled so many places.

He is a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for sharing and taking the time and opportunity to speak with our residents.

Brookdale Tyler East wants to thank all our care partners and friends that helped make the Hawaiian Luau dinner so special. Our residents and family members really appreciate and enjoyed this event very much.

Iwan, our singer, did a great job performing and making this event that much more, the music and songs that you sang were awesome. The Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, and Bee Gees all brought back memories and made this event even special. Thank you again for such a wonderful event.

The Hawaiian Luau was a blast! We all dressed in our Hawaiian outfits and wore our leis for this family event.

It was great to see our residents and family members interacting with each other and sharing memories and having a great time.

And the food made by the amazing Delores made pulled pork sandwiches along with pineapple meatballs, and macaroni salad, and for dessert we had pineapple coconut cake. What a way to end a day!

We started with a tailgate party for the kickoff of the football season, or so it seems.

But in reality, it was a special surprise party for Brittany, our nurse, who received her RN nursing license. It was amazing to see our partners and other colleagues with whom she works on a daily basis come and celebrate this special event with us. She was honored with a special plaque that Omar, the ED, had made for her.

Brittany, you have been an inspiration to us all. Keep on inspiring!

The residents enjoyed their lunch and time at Chuy’s Mexican restaurant.

Even though the weather was hot, we enjoyed some refreshing drinks and plenty of good food and awesome service for the residents. They even helped the residents to the bus.

Thank you, Chuy’s, we had a wonderful time.
