We cannot thank the kind, generous souls who volunteer with us enough! Whether it be sitting with someone, helping us run our day camps, filling the halls of HOET with music, or helping us move furniture for the thrift shop, your impact is immeasurable for the patients in our care and their families.

Thank you so much to the ladies from Lydia Missions with Flint Baptist Church of Flint, Texas! Loretta Moore and Patsy Helms brought in 20 handmade quilts for our Homeplace beds and 27 lap blankets. An incredible amount of work goes into each of these blankets, and we are beyond grateful for the time, effort, and dedication of the ladies who made them!

The Hospice of East Texas recognizes that children grieve deeply when they lose someone special—and that their grief deserves compassionate, intentional support. This support is fundamental to the WINGS program. Our next support group will be held on October 23rd, 2025, at 5:30 PM.

Over the years, WINGS has taken many forms, all of which are filled with healing and hope.
✨ Monthly support groups
✨ One-on-one sessions
✨ Holiday events
✨ Day camps

At every event, children are encouraged to:
💬 Feel their feelings
🫶 Share with a trusted adult
🛠️ Learn healthy coping tools to carry with them

Please contact Shay Ditter to register in advance.

🦋 A Morning of Wings and Wonder 🦋
Yesterday’s Memorial Butterfly Release at The Hospice of East Texas was nothing short of sacred.

The sun rose gently over a gathering of beautiful souls—families, staff, and friends—each carrying memories, love, and quiet strength. As butterflies took flight, so did our shared hopes, griefs, and blessings.

It was a morning of stillness and connection. Of names whispered, tears honored, and moments held close. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this tender ritual. You made it radiant.

Here’s to healing in motion, and to the wings that remind us that love never leaves. 💜 🦋

“Memories are powerfully important in grief. We pour from Yesterday, a foundation upon which we build Today, in preparation for something special Tomorrow.”
- Excerpt from the book 𝑃𝑜𝑝𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑛, 𝑃𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑒𝑠 & 𝑃𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 – 𝐴 𝐺𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑓 𝐸𝑛𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟, authored by Wes M. Bynum, former Director of Care Support Services at The Hospice of East Texas.

We hope you join us tomorrow, October 4th, at 9 AM as we release butterflies in memory of our loved ones and reflect upon our meaningful memories together. We will be gathering at our campus, located at 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701.

🔙 Throwback Thursday! 🔙

One of the Junior League of Tyler’s most enduring legacies is the founding of The Hospice of East Texas. 🌿 In response to a critical need in our community, the League helped establish this vital organization to provide compassionate end-of-life care for patients and families across East Texas.

What began as a vision backed by passionate volunteers has grown into a cornerstone of care in our region — a true testament to the power of service, collaboration, and heart. 💙

As we celebrate 75 years of impact, we honor initiatives like this that have shaped the health and well-being of our community!
