Caring for a loved one is an act of deep love and devotion. It can also feel overwhelming at times, both physically and emotionally. Taking moments to rest and ask for help is not a weakness, but a necessity. Our hospice team is here to support caregivers with compassion, guidance, and understanding.

We are pleased to announce that Christi Baggett has been selected as the next President & CEO of Hospice of East Texas, effective January 15, 2026.

Christi brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience and has been an integral part of Hospice of East Texas for many years, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer. Her deep understanding of our mission, commitment to patients and families, and proven leadership make her exceptionally well-suited to guide our organization into its next chapter.

This transition follows the upcoming retirement of longtime President & CEO Marji Ream, whose 21 years of visionary leadership have profoundly shaped hospice and palliative care in East Texas. We hold immense pride and gratitude for Marji and the incredible programs she has implemented over the years, including the Hospice of East Texas Foundation, Texas Palliative Care, and the creation of a Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship for physicians in collaboration with UT Tyler. Marji will continue to support the organization as CEO Emeritus through late spring.

Please join us in thanking Marji for her extraordinary legacy and in welcoming Christi to her new role as she leads Hospice of East Texas forward with compassion, innovation, and care.

Thank You for Your Generosity! 💙
We are so grateful to everyone who donated during our Giving Tuesday fundraiser. Your kindness helps children find hope and healing during one of life’s hardest journeys—grief.

Just this past weekend at our Holiday Children’s Grief Camp, we saw your impact in action: children expressed their feelings through crafts, shared stories with peers who truly understand, and learned tools to navigate their grief journey. These moments of connection and growth were possible because of YOU.

If you missed Giving Tuesday, it’s not too late! Our work with grieving children continues every day and is 100% donation-funded—your support truly makes a lasting difference!
👉 Donate anytime at the link below, and under “I want to give to,” be sure to select “5401 - Chaplains and Bereavement” in the drop-down box.

A special thank you to Reverend Ernest Higginbotham, his wife Macia, and the wonderful congregation of Pierce's Chapel Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville for delivering lunch today for families and staff at HomePlace. The food, coffee, and generous spirit certainly bring peace and light during this holiday season. We are so grateful for your continued holiday blessing each year.
