Becoming a midwife has truly been a calling for me. The Lord provided the midwifery model of care as a unique avenue for me to minister to women during one of the most intimate and transformative experiences of their lives.

My desire to work in the birth setting grew as I raised my four children, and it was solidified when I met my sister-in-law’s midwife in November 2003. That encounter led me to begin my apprenticeship and enroll in the Association of Texas Midwives Education Program, from which I graduated in December 2005. I earned my Texas license in August 2006.

I have had the privilege of serving as an associate board member with the Association of Texas Midwives, acting as a regional representative, and also leading as the president of the East Texas Midwives Association for about 10 years. From 2008 to 2021, I owned and operated Labor of Love Birth Center in Tyler, Texas, before transitioning to focus on home births.

This new chapter with Azalea Birth Center allows me to concentrate on collaborative care, ensuring that women experience a more comprehensive and fulfilling healthcare plan throughout their pregnancy and birth.
