Let’s Talk About Deep Tissue Massage—Because It’s Not What You Think!
There’s a big misconception out there:
Deep tissue = deep pressure.
Not true!
Many people assume deep tissue massage means bracing yourself for pain or enduring super-heavy pressure. But deep tissue isn’t about how hard I press—it’s about how intentionally I work through deeper layers of muscle and fascia to release long-held tension.
What deep tissue massage actually is:
Slow, specific techniques that sink into chronic tension
Myofascial release, muscle stripping, and trigger point work
Thoughtful, therapeutic pressure based on your needs
Communication-led—I always work with your body, not against it
Now, you might be wondering how this differs from other massage types…
Swedish massage is the classic feel-good massage—long, flowing strokes, gentle kneading, and light to moderate pressure to relax your body and calm your nervous system. Think: ahhh.
Restorative massage is exactly what it sounds like—nurturing, supportive, and especially helpful if you’re recovering from illness, emotional stress, trauma, or exhaustion. It focuses on nervous system regulation, deep rest, and healing from the inside out. Often slower and lighter than Swedish, it’s like a warm blanket for your whole being.
Each of these styles serves a unique purpose:
Swedish for relaxation
Deep tissue for long-term structural relief
Restorative for deep healing and energetic reset
Not sure what you need? That’s okay—I blend techniques based on you, not a label.
Let’s create the kind of care your body is asking for.
