🌟 Celebrating OT Month at Life Care Center of Orlando! 🌟

This month, we’re shining a well‑deserved spotlight on our incredible Occupational Therapy team. Three of these outstanding clinicians — Carina Vargas, COTA; Tyler Staber, COTA; and Van Nguyen, OT — are returning team members, and we’re grateful to have their skill and compassion back in our building. 🙌

We’re also excited to welcome Karin Scotchie, OT, our newest team member, who brings fresh energy and a wealth of knowledge to our department. Karin is lymphedema certified, bringing specialized expertise that enhances the quality of care we provide to our residents. 💙

Occupational Therapy is all about helping individuals regain independence, confidence, and the ability to participate in the activities that give life meaning. Our team embodies that mission every day with skill, heart, and dedication. Thank you, OT team, for everything you do for our residents, families, and community. Happy OT Month! 🎉

Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

Thankfully, there are ways to improve Parkinson's symptoms! 😀 Our therapy team offers rehabilitation services to help improve mobility, range of motion, function, and speech for those living with PD. Call us to see how we can support you or your loved one.

Wishing you a day full of hope, celebration, and finding treasure. ✨🩷

What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the amazing therapists who help our rehab patients rebuild confidence, independence, and the skills that make daily life meaningful. 🫶

Thank you to our incredible OTs for the difference you make every day. 💙

A little time can mean the world. 🌎

April is Volunteer Month, and we are celebrating the amazing people of all ages who share their time with our residents. From calling bingo to painting nails 💅, performing music 🎵 to simply sitting and chatting, our volunteers bring an essential joy and connection to our community.

Thank you for giving of your time and talents to bring sunshine to our residents! ☀️

✨ Culinary Creations & Conversations ✨

We recently joined with The Bridge at Orlando, our assisted living facility next door, for a fantastic evening hosting guests from our wider community for a night of Culinary Creations & Conversations. 🧀🍇

They started at The Bridge enjoying gourmet bites, tours, and great company, and made their way to our newly renovated skilled nursing facility for a decadent dessert sampling. 🍰 We were so excited to show off the function and beauty of our community to many in the Orlando area who hadn't had an opportunity to see it for themselves yet.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the night so special! 🤩

🌟 A Success Story from Life Care Center of Orlando 🌟

Pastor Paul Wittenberg came to us after a stroke that dramatically changed his independence. Once sharp, eloquent, and fully self-sufficient at the local Lutheran assisted living facility, he suddenly needed total assistance with mobility, daily activities, and cognitive tasks.

From day one, Paul’s goal was simple and powerful: to return home to Lutheran Haven and be with his wife again. With determination and the support of our rehab team — including Speech Therapist Maggie Velasquez and speech therapy student Camilla — Paul made steady, meaningful progress. We were grateful to capture a photo with Paul, his wife Dorothy, Maggie, and Camilla, a moment that reflects the teamwork and hope behind his recovery.

Paul’s story also highlights something important to us: We proudly welcome students for internships, giving them hands-on experience while enriching the care we provide. We celebrate Paul’s resilience and the progress he has made! He successfully returned to his assisted living apartment today!
