A Beautiful Send‑Off 👋

A couple months ago, George Corum III arrived at our facility unable to take care of himself or walk. With steady dedication in physical and occupational therapy, he pushed through every challenge and celebrated every small win along the way. Yesterday, he walked 175 feet with a walker and supervision and headed home stronger, safer, and more independent 💪

He summed up his journey beautifully: “When I came here, I couldn’t even get out of bed on my own. Now I’m walking out the door. I’m grateful for every person who helped me get my life back.” ❤️

🎄 We hosted our Festival of Trees event on 12/19/25 with members of the community, associates, residents and families in attendance. A local high school provided beautiful music for everyone to enjoy 🎻, and we even had a community volunteer recite "'Twas the Night Before Christmas"!

Everyone enjoyed sweet treats and finger foods and had the opportunity to win a fully decorated tree for the holidays! 🎅 All proceeds raised will be donated to a local organization called Matthew's Hope, Orange County. They provide resources year-round to the homeless community here in Central Florida. Thank you to everyone who donated a tree, and congratulations to our winners! 🌟

🍽️ An important part of life at any skilled nursing and rehabilitation center is the food, and here at Life Care Center of Orlando, we are proud of the meals we serve. 🌟

👨‍🍳 Our Food Service Director is Alexander Torres, who worked his way up from a Dietary Aide position to eventually becoming a Certified Dietary Manager. He has been with Life Care Centers of America at several different communities, including right here at Life Care Center of Orlando, for about 23 years. He even won Life Care's 2018 President's Award for the company's Florida communities.

"I love what I do, making the residents smile," Alex shared. 😀 "I like to make sure they are all taken care of and they receive the best service we can provide. Food is the way to everyone's heart." 🩷

Alex also enjoys working with the Resident Council and hearing residents' suggestions for their favorite meals.

The possibilities are endless... from performing with your musical group 🎵 to visiting one-on-one with our residents, calling bingo to bringing in your dog for pet therapy 🦮. Volunteering is an incredibly rewarding experience!
