🎉 COLLABORATION ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉

Some of the very best partnerships grow organically — and this one has been unfolding right in front of us.

Many of you already know Dr. Beth Becherer of Turning Point Chiropractic as your chiropractor, your lactation consultant, or both. She has long been a trusted provider supporting our families through pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding.

✨ Now for the big news: as of January 5th, we will officially be operating out of the same office in Washington.

That means even more seamless, integrative care — midwifery, chiropractic, and lactation support under one roof, with providers who already work closely and collaboratively for your care.

And one more celebration worth shouting from the rooftops 🎓
Dr. Beth recently sat for — and passed — her IBCLC exam, making her officially Dr. Beth, DC, IBCLC! We are so proud of her dedication to evidence-based, whole-family care.

This collaboration feels like a natural next step — and we’re beyond excited for what this means for our community.

✨ End of Year Gratitude – 2025 ✨

As we close out 2025, our hearts are incredibly full. This year, our practice had the honor of welcoming 38 babies at home — and in one of those fun, awe-inspiring moments that reminds us how magical birth can be, the split was perfectly even: 19 girls and 19 boys 🩷💙

Beyond home births, we were also privileged to support 9 families (3 girls and 6 boys) through hospital births, standing beside them as advocates, educators, and steady support during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives.

Every family who trusted us — whether at home or in the hospital — allowed us into a sacred space. We never take that lightly. Birth is powerful, vulnerable, transformative work, and it continues to be the greatest honor to serve families through it.

To our families, collaborators, backup midwives, and the wider community: thank you for making 2025 a year we will always remember. We are endlessly grateful and so excited for what’s ahead in 2026.

✨ The end of the beginning. ✨

Today marks a really big milestone for me and for Empowered Health. I am officially moved out of my original clinic space—and almost patient ready in our new space just across the parking lot.

This feels like closing a chapter that built the foundation for everything that’s coming next. Growth is exciting… and a little surreal.

I want to give a very special thank-you to Megan Oberg for opening her space to me, believing in the vision, and walking alongside me in this work. I’m so grateful not only for the support so far, but for the years of collaboration, growth, and care we have ahead of us.

There is so much more to come with this new space—more room, more offerings, more connection, and more ways to serve women and families in our community.

Stay tuned… the best parts are still unfolding. ✨

✨ Let’s talk about nuchal cords ✨
A nuchal cord simply means the umbilical cord is wrapped around a baby’s neck. It sounds scary, but in most cases it’s actually very common and not dangerous.

🌀 About 20–30% of babies (that’s 1 in 3 to 1 in 5!) are born with a nuchal cord.
🩷 The cord is *usually* long, slippery, and cushioned with Wharton’s jelly, which helps protect blood flow.
👶 Most babies with a nuchal cord are born healthy, need no extra intervention, and it’s often just a quick little maneuver during birth.

A triple nuchal cord (wrapped three times) is much less common than a single loop. It occurs in roughly 0.5%–1% of births — about 1 in 100 to 1 in 200 babies.

Most of the time, even multiple loops don’t cause harm thanks to the cord’s natural protection and flexibility.

Our last 2 Empowered Health babies were born with TRIPLE nuchal cords. The photo below shows us working together to unwrap the cord before we bring her up out of the water. This baby didn't mind the cord at all...the second triple nuchal baby didn't love it quite as much...which is why it's important to hire a team that is prepared and ready to intervene when necessary.

Sharing this because information is empowering — especially when it replaces fear with understanding. 💛

🌿 Exciting News from Empowered Health & Mind Body Birth! 🌿

We’re thrilled to announce that Empowered Health and Mind.Body.Birth are officially joining forces!

Two passionate midwives — Nicki Meyer, CNM, CPM and Megan Oberg, CPM — are coming together to offer the combined wisdom, skill, and heart of two midwives for the price of one.

Megan brings a rich background in healthcare, education, and holistic midwifery — from her early work in laboratory science and childbirth education to her years supporting families as a doula, educator, and licensed midwife. Her deep belief in individualized, woman-centered care perfectly complements Empowered Health’s mission of empowering women in birth, in health, and in life.

Together, we’re uniting our unique paths to provide safe, personalized, and empowering maternity care for our community. 💚

ANNOUNCEMENT!!📣

Kristen Jarvis, FNP-C, will be joining the Empowered Health team beginning in January 2026.

Kristen was born and raised in Marthasville, MO. She is a Washington High School alumni, and after earning her nursing degree at Goldfarb School of Nursing in St. Louis, she quickly returned to school to pursue a Master’s degree in family practice as a family nurse practitioner. Kristen graduated from Missouri Baptist University in December 2024, and began her career in an urgent care setting. She is ecstatic to transition into the primary care setting and begin serving patients within her local community.

Kristen will bring a holistic healthcare approach to the practice, combining elements of both functional and traditional western medicine to offer a well-rounded, personalized approach to health. She understands that medicine should not be “one size fits all,” and will prioritize informed consent and decision making, collaborative care, and respect for her patient’s values.

Kristen is excited to offer care to patients of all ages and stages, beginning from birth. Additionally, Kristen respectfully accepts patients of any vaccination status or preferences. She will offer both a membership and per-visit pricing structure.

Last week, we had the unique opportunity to participate in a photojournalism project showcasing the midwifery model of care. Out of 400 photos taken, these made the cut for the exhibit. Thank you to Maya for choosing us to spend your week with and to our patients that consented to participation! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos and sharing them! Additionally, I'm excited to say that Maya enjoyed her time with us so much that she wants to continue the project in an effort to bring light to this model of care...where patients are an active role in their Healthcare...a principle that we, at Empowered Health, are dedicated to.
