Going in for a consult with Dr. David Sheba about anterior hip replacement? Make the most of your appointment by asking the right questions. Here are some worth keeping in mind:

✅ What makes the anterior approach different from traditional hip replacement surgery?
✅ Am I a good candidate for this approach based on my anatomy and condition?
✅ What are the risks or potential complications associated with this type of procedure?
✅ How long will recovery typically take, and what else can I expect?
✅ Will I have any restrictions after surgery, short-term and long-term?
✅ What can I do now to prepare my body and home for a smoother recovery?

Hip pain ruining your groove? If you’re coming in for an appointment with Dr. David or Dr. Justin Sheba, help us help you by showing up with “STAR” power:

S – Say the exact location of the pain.
T – Tell us how long it has been going on and what started it.
A – Assess how bad it is (use the pain scale 0-10).
R – Reveal what makes it better or worse and what it feels like (i.e., Does it throb, burn, or ache?).

Also, let us know if there are any accompanying symptoms, such as swelling, stiffness, weakness, numbness, or if the pain is constant or sporadic. Remember, the more you share, the more capable we are of providing the best care.

🎤 It’s time for another round of Q&A with our orthopedic experts! Today, we’re tackling a question about a common shoulder injury that can cause big problems if left untreated.

Q: I have this dull, deep ache in my shoulder that makes it hard to lift my arm, reach behind my back, or even sleep on that side. My shoulder also feels weak. What could this be?

A: Those symptoms point to a possible injury involving the muscles and tendons that support and move your shoulder—a rotator cuff injury, which can result from trauma, like a fall on to an outstretched hand, or gradual wear and tear.

Many patients try to “tough it out,” but leaving it untreated can lead to worsening pain, stiffness, and long-term loss of function. Early diagnosis and the right care make all the difference.

Visit us, and let’s get to the bottom of your symptoms and provide the appropriate treatment, so you can move your arm with ease again.

Parents of toddlers, be careful swinging your little ones by their arms. Their ligaments and joints are still developing, in that even a tiny yank on their arm can make their elbow bone slip out of place. It’s called nursemaid’s elbow, and it turns fun moments into sudden meltdowns real fast.

If a game of “swing me, daddy” got your child wincing and screaming when you touch their arm and there are no signs of injury, they most likely have a nursemaid’s elbow. Come see us. We’ve treated it countless times with a gentle maneuver to guide the bone back to where it should be. Let’s fix it, so your youngster can get back to doing what they enjoy most—being playful.
