The Southwestern Endoscopy Center is known for top quality care. We continuously monitor important quality metrics for our gastroenterologists through the GIQuIC data registry. The most important measurement is the adenoma detection rate which checks how often a GI physician identifies one or more precancerous polyps during a screening colonoscopy. The graph below shows that our team far exceeded the national standard, in 2021.

You'll receive excellent care at Southwestern Gastrointestinal Specialists and Southwestern Endoscopy Center. There has been a national drive amongst gastroenterologists to increase quality for colonoscopies. We measure our ADR or adenoma detection rate on a quarterly basis. The ADR looks at how often a physician finds an adenomatous polyp during a screening colonoscopy in an average risk individual at or above age 50. A high quality performer is recognized as having an ADR of 25% or above. All four of our SWGI gastroenterologists consistently have ADR’s above 40%. Call for your screening today!

The American College of Gastroenterology recommends colonoscopy as the preferred screening method due to its superior sensitivity, it’s ability to remove polyps/prevent cancer, and it’s needing done every 10 years. Call to schedule your screening today!

Colon cancer screening is more important than ever. The American Cancer Society (ACS), the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPST), and the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) now recommend initiating screening for average risk individuals at age 45. This is due to a disturbing trend of an increasing incidence of colon cancer in those younger than 50. If you're 45 or older call to schedule your screening today!
