We would like to share news about one of our wonderful staff member in the Therapeutic Recreation Department. Rachel has always had an interest in wellness and physical activity. She is an advocate for our residents and provides recreational programs that encourage physical wellness. She is skilled at adapting the process to meet the various needs of the residents.
Rachel recently assisted with designing a “fitness focused” one to one program in our memory care center to help with fall reduction. She utilized our therapeutic recreation exercise program, her own experience, and researched ideas through Johns Hopkins to develop personalized strengthening and balance support programming. She worked with nursing and our therapy department to ensure that the programs were tailored to the residents and has dedicated time to complete these fitness programs each week.
We are also celebrating her successful completion of a Fall Prevention Certification course. Rachel completed 12.5 hours of online learning for the Best practice solutions to reduce falls and injuring with your most challenging fall-risk patients. The course work included falls assessments, working with people who have dementia, risk reduction strategies, hidden deficits, environmental safety, complex cases, and much more.
Thank you Rachel for your dedication to our residents and going above and beyond to demonstrate what Therapeutic Recreation is all about. Your team is proud of you!
