Why share what you know as a coach?
Because... someone needs you!
For 7 years I was a teacher/Educator for Summit Salon Academy.
The Academy started out as The Salon Professional Academy affectionately called, TSPA.
The Academy was barely open but a few months and they were looking for educators. Mr. Mike, my coach, mentor and life partner drug me off the bed and said- they need you!
I had recently had shoulder surgery and was home - depressed.
He said- you gotta get off that bed! Puddles is going mad watching Oprah everyday!
Puddles winked.
Off we went, in the pouring down rain to find TSPA.
We arrived, I got out of the car, ran up to the door, dodging raindrops all the way. ONLY to find a lock on the door.
I turned around, ran back to the car and reported the news.
Mr. Mike, ever the doubting Thomas, said- "wait here".
He goes up to the door and rattles the chains!
Okay...that was an exaggeration. There weren't chains. It was a realtors lock box.
Michael Shea, one of the owners of The school, heard my Mike and opened the door. They exchanged pleasantries ending with Mr. Mike waving me back in and Mr. Shea waving a hello greeting.
They were open. The lock box was for construction workers to finish build out projects.
My Mike introduced me to Michael Shea.
Michael Shea introduced me to the delightful Mrs. Shea, Karen.
Karen told me what they needed. All I heard was "potential partnership ".
I knew if I opened an Academy it would look like this...
Though they needed Cosmetology instructors ,
They REALLY wanted someone to start their esthetics program.
What? Did you say start as in create???
These are my "Entraprenuer CALL" words.
That's how I became their founding esthetics program Educator.
While teaching in this program I was privileged to teach / educate Falisha McCloud, founder of ARCH Collective.
Falisha has made it her goal to educate others seeking a career in the beauty business by having an expert panel discussion for beauty school attendees- past and present.
Please reach out to Falisha if you desire learning from the best practices.
I am proud to say I had a hand in helping Falisha on her path by simply being the messenger that she was a star (and giving her Ann Mincey's book - Get Glowing, you are a star where you are)...
