We are reaching out to ask for your help to restore funding and representation for people living with brain injury in Washington State. Many of you know that in 2020 WA DSHS stopped funding support groups and other critical programs for the brain injury community.

A dedicated group of people have been working hard with legislators to correct this situation and restore funding to brain injury support groups and representation and transparency to the TBI Council. State Representative Jessica Bateman is presenting Bill HB 2248 on Friday, 19 January 2024, to the Washington State Legislature.

You can help! Visit our partner, Brain Injury Community Alliance at https://www.bialliance.org/2024/01/08/quick-guide/ and make your voice heard! It's easy. It's important.

I am writing to voice my support for House Bill 2248 (Rep. Jessica Bateman) and to request it be prioritized for a hearing in the 2024 Legislative Session.

The way we eat determines how healthy we are in the long run. When we're young greasy, fast food stops several times a week may not have much impact, but the impact you don't see in the moment will manifest itself later in life.

Self-care is an important part of any healthcare regimen. Isaac Peterson says, "I’m a big believer in self-care for brain injury survivors, or for anyone at all for that matter. While I follow the doctor’s advice, I also allow myself the space to come up with my own individualized care plan, and so far it seems to be working and going great guns."

A BEST Superhero Mission Revealed!

In 2008 a group of survivors, family, caregivers, and medical professionals came together because we recognized there are fundamental services missing from the traditional, and accepted, protocol of treating those with brain injury. We wanted to take control of our treatments, our recovery, and our lives.

It is our belief that we know best.

From the commitment of those few people in 2008, and those on our team today, we have grown into a nationally recognized organization for our support, training, peer mentoring, and public awareness. At the heart of what we do is the symbol of the superhero, and embracing our empowerment and our own superpowers to change the face of brain injury forever (and maybe even save the world).

The education and peer support BEST offers help participants live quality lives, define their interests and build on their strengths. Meaningful work, relationships, and independent living to the extent that fulfills us is all part of how we define personal success.
