I enjoy this time of year. Headbands and beanies over my wigs are practical in windy and rainy conditions, as they secure my hair and are relatively easy to wear.

Some of my ladies tell me that their hair is getting so thin it is difficult to clip their topper. I wanted to post this video from another retailer who offers these stretchy bands to help hold on the topper when you have very little hair to clip the topper in.

Because I have zero hair, I wear a hat or wigs, every day! Often wigs can be scratchy. And if I am lounging around the house, or walking the dog, riding a bike, etc. I don’t want to wear my expensive wigs, I prefer to wear a budget wig in a ponytail or a beanie with hair or a headband wig. Since I don’t really like the items that I have seen on the market in these categories, over the years, I have been making different prototypes and trying to improve upon comfort and believability. This is my latest creation, taking a budget human hair wig, cutting off the perimeter and sewing on a large Boho scarf. This was particularly easy to make compared to some of my past ones and I think this is another winner piece for camping, nature walks, and bike riding!

Every now and then I will go bargain-basement shopping for inexpensive synthetic wigs.  Sometimes, I get home and find that I am not able to customize the piece into a nice, believable, realistic-looking wig. Sometimes I have losses and sometimes I have wins after the customization. THIS one is a WIN! I have a few budget pieces like this in my salon that I feel compete very well with my upper brands and I can offer them at a lower cost. My personal interest in a low cost piece is that I am quite active in the outdoors and I go camping quite often. I do not want to wear my expensive human hair wigs just to get them all messed up and frizzy from my activities and even worse, campfire smells! I will usually take a wig like this, and wear it clipped up in the back for outdoor recreation because longer synthetic hair does tangle very easy and damages quite quickly. Clipping it up it allows me to get at least a full Summer’s enjoyment from the wig!
