Looking for a wildly fun way to boost speech and language skills? 🐾 Exploring the world of wildlife is a great way to engage little learners while working on key goals!

Here are a few ideas to get started:

🌍 Vocabulary Building – Learn animal names, habitats, and sounds (e.g., “lion,” “jungle,” “roar!”).

🗣️ Speech Sounds – Practice target sounds with animal names (e.g., “snake” for /s/, “bear” for /b/).

💬 Expanding Sentences – Use sentence starters: “I see a ___,” “The ___ is big,” “The monkey is climbing.”

❓ WH Questions – “Where does the elephant live?” “What does a zebra eat?”

🎭 Pretend Play – Act like animals to encourage expressive language and following directions (“Stomp like an elephant!”).

Did you know that telling and understanding jokes is a fantastic way to boost speech and language skills? 🗣️💡 Here’s how humor helps:

🧠 Vocabulary Building – Learning puns and punchlines introduces new words and multiple meanings.
🧩 Inferencing Skills – "Getting" a joke often requires reading between the lines!
🎯 Social Communication – Timing, tone, and knowing your audience are key to joke-telling.
📚 Narrative Skills – Telling a joke involves storytelling: setup, conflict, and resolution (with a twist!).

Reading together isn’t just about stories — it’s an amazing opportunity to build vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills. Here’s how YOU can turn reading time into therapy time at home:

👂 Pause & Wait – Give your child time to comment or label pictures. Let them lead!

🔄 Repeat & Expand – If your child says “dog,” you can say “Yes! A big, brown dog is running!”

🤔 Ask WH-Questions – “What’s happening?” “Where is he going?” Keep it playful and interactive.

🖐️ Use Gestures & Visuals – Point to pictures, act things out, and bring words to life!

🧠 Build Vocabulary – Pick 1–2 new words from the book to focus on and use them in your daily routine.

📖 Re-read Favorites – Repetition builds confidence and helps kids learn new patterns and sounds.
