Most endurance athletes would benefit from some form of strength or supportive training. There are many possible benefits of adding some strength training to your training routine. Some of these benefits include increased fatigue resistance, increased bone health, and possible injury risk mitigation. There is no guarantee to prevent injury, but anyway to reduce the risk should be a part of your routine in order help keep you training.
Don’t over think what you are doing with your strength training and try to do the most complicated types of exercises just focus on the basics. Include some lower body exercise, core, a push and a pull movement. Keep it short and simple just be consistent. Building strength is just like building aerobic fitness, it does not happen quickly and if you try to skip steps you increase your changes of getting injured. Slow steady progress is the best thing for you and your training.
