Vessel is closing and is no longer taking new clients. I'm incredibly sad, but I'm heading back to where I came from! I hope to return some day, this medicine was wonderfully received in this area and I'm so grateful for how supportive this community has been for my practice in such a short time. 💛

Here are local needles for what I believe is arthritis in the 1st toe paired with tendonitis. Her physician and PT had mixed diagnoses that included the above and possibly Morton's Neuroma, but her symptoms didn't fit any of the diagnoses clearly. She had pain on the top and bottom of the ball of her first toe and the top of the toe itself making it uncomfortable to stand or walk, swelling in the entire area, and stiffness/lack of range of motion in the toe. Weekly acupuncture with electrical stimulation significantly improved all of the symptoms and for now we've moved into a once a month treatment to maintain her progress. She has also reduced inflammatory foods in her diet and I believe that's been incredibly supportive to healing this issue.

Thumb pain is unfortunately common, thumbs do so much for us and they just get over-used! Here are needle locations for an arthritic thumb, tendonitis, or nerve pain to the thumb. Acupuncture can reduce the inflammation, reduce pain, and increase circulation to heal local tissues. Please reach out with any questions, I'm happy to answer!

Here are some of the local needle locations for carpal tunnel syndrome. Because I always treat the whole body, needles will be placed in other areas of the body as well. Simply explained, these needles have a regulating effect on the median nerve and surrounding nerves and increase circulation to tendons and soft tissues involved in the compression of the median nerve. Please reach out if you suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome! I'm happy to answer questions.

Here are just a few of the potent points for sinus health. We're stimulating the nerve endings over the sinuses and unblocking the involved energetic channels. Adding a Chinese herbal formula (internal) can be incredibly effective for allergy symptoms as well as treating the root of allergies. If you're suffering, please reach out! Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can ease the "blows" of allergies!

Research shows symptoms with greatest improvements included sneezing, itchy nose, itchy eyes, runny nose, blocked nose and interrupted sleep.

The science: As simply as I can put it, acupuncture changes immune system responses to allergens and significantly reduces the body's various inflammatory substances involved in causing the symptoms. Check out evidencebasedacupuncture.org, the evidence summary for allergic rhinitis, for the specifics!

In traditional Chinese medical theory, we strengthen the Lung and Spleen, the two primary organs involved in being susceptible to allergens. We transform dampness and phlegm, pacify wind, clear heat if necessary, and unblock the channels that run through the sinuses.

The scary hypodermic needle that pushes out liquid (think vaccine, the needle numbing your mouth at the dentist) is a hollow tube that's about 28.5 mm thick. The average acupuncture needle I use is .20 mm thick. Read that again! It's insane how thin acupuncture needles are. About 20 of them can fit into the end of a hypodermic needle. They're solid yet flexible and are often inserted unnoticeably. Upon insertion the needles part the cells rather than pierce them. Fun!

Emily L. says: When I came to Andrea, I had been struggling with pain in my glutes, lower back, and knee for over a year. I had already completed months of chiropractic work, physical therapy, and even gotten an MRI, but pain still lingered. My doctor said all they could suggest was a cortisone shot or a shot to numb the area, but neither would be a permanent fix. Wanting to get to the root of the issue rather than cover up the symptoms, I began weekly sessions with Andrea. In just 5 sessions, I've gone from struggling to go on a 30 minute walk, to feeling confident in my old exercise routines. My pain has become minor and completely manageable. I can't recommend Andrea enough. She's calm, caring, and experienced.

I feel open and in tune in here, able to let go of what's happening outside of these walls, and listen to and intuit for the people who come into this office asking for my help. Thankful for Wild Soul Beauty Lounge and Kimberly Tridle Rockwell for providing this healing space.

I just left Lunar Organics with their Nirvana CBD pain relief salve in hand. It smells lovely and would be good for those who don't enjoy smelling strongly of peppermint or camphor! I'm excited to see how daily use of it treats me. Topical salves and linaments, whether Chinese herbal based or CBD based, are an important part of my self care and I almost always recommend them to my clients. The store has some beautiful creations and loose leaf teas, and Angela was so sincerely kind and helpful. 💛

And here is my longer version on the acupuncture vs. dry needling conversation:

Acupuncture is one of the therapies used within Traditional Chinese Medicine (also referred to as East Asian or Oriental medicine) and employs a complex, energetic, thousands of years old medical theory to diagnose and treat a condition, musculoskeletal or internal (covering issues like hormonal imbalances, digestion, insomnia, allergies, etc.). 4 years of graduate study typically totaling 3,000 hours is the baseline education for an acupuncturist/Chinese Medicine practitioner. Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners also use Chinese herbal prescriptions, tui na, shiatsu, (these are forms of medical massage) cupping, and other traditional techniques and electrical stimulation to treat health conditions. Sessions in my practice are about an hour long involving acupuncture, time to rest with needles inserted, possible use of the above techniques, and lifestyle recommendations if warranted.

Dry needling is the term used by chiropractors, physical therapists, and physicians who insert needles as a part of their treatment. (In this area it’s still often being called acupuncture). Calling it dry needling is a way to seperate it from the practice of acupuncture. This typically looks like a few minutes of needle insertion into the musculoskeletal area you’re working on with your practitioner. They’ve received a certification within their association after a 50-300 hour course. It can certainly improve the efficacy of your physical therapy or chiropractic care and again is musculoskeletal focused.

Always feel free to reach out and ask questions!

I constantly get asked what the differences are between dry needling and acupuncture. Here is a super simple version from All Star Chiropractic in KY:

"Acupuncture:

-Eastern based technique practiced for thousands of years
-Stringent requirements for pracitioners
-Utilizes several needles at once
-Focuses on hitting muscle nerve endings to release endorphins and encourage energy flow as well as using points based on Traditional Chinese Medical Theory

Dry Needling:

-Relatively new Western based technique still being researched
-Requirements are not standardized
-Number of needles varies
-Focuses on hitting trigger points in a tense muscle to release the knot

Both acupuncture and dry needling are options for pain relief especially where medications have failed. As you consider whether dry needling is for you, it is important to remember that this practice is still new and under research".
