Keeping protein intake high can help prevent muscle loss. Muscle is made primarily of protein. High protein intake can help you gain muscle mass and strength while reducing muscle loss during weight loss.

Taking BCAAs. Research has also shown that three of the 9 essential amino acids are particularly effective at increasing protein synthesis and can thus be viewed as the more important amino acids for muscle growth.
