Touch is the very thing that connects us to the world around us.
Much of us live, wether we realize it or not in a complete state of disassociation & manic impulses to leave our body+ disconnect from our felt experience.
The world is overwhelming, both internally and externally.
With the speed in which things are evolving, urgency culture, our growing tech and information overload. We are becoming more and more disembodied + out of touch, quiet literally.
Of all the senses TOUCH is the most profound bridge from our inner to outer world. There have been dozens of studies on child development and how essential consistent touch is in infancy to develop secure attachment as well as a healthy nervous system.
Our nervous system is our compass for feeling safe and our ability to connect to our outer world in a healthy way.
There are 2 responses of the nervous system. 1. Sympathetic (fight and flight)
2. Parasympathetic (Rest and Digest)
Our modern world is designed to activate and even keep us stuck in a fight flight response.
Unable to turn off, many of us experience the side effects of too much stimulation.
-disruptive or lack of sleep
-digestive issues like cramping constipation/ diarrhea
-malabsorption of nutrients
-shallow breathing
-anxiety
-depression
-metabolic issues
-brain fog/ concentration issues
-disassociation
-chronic fatigue/ pain
To name a few.
No wonder it’s so hard to BE in our bodies.
Therapeutic touch and bodywork is one of the most profound ways we can begin to climb back into ourselves and even for a moment, feel connected again.
The more we slow down and feel, the more we are embodied.
From here the more our symptoms begin to fade and we are able to really connect to our lives and all the things that truly matter. The more we are able to integrate and heal.
