✨Exciting news… we are now offering Ketamine therapy as part of our holistic approach to wellness!✨

Ketamine therapy is a unique therapeutic method used to address a variety of mental health conditions such as depression, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain, addiction, and some forms of anxiety. 😌

What is it? Ketamine is a psychoactive drug classified as a dissociative anesthetic. It was first synthesized in 1962 and has been used in the United States as an anesthetic in medical settings since 1970. 💉

For the past 20 years, Ketamine has been used off-label in low doses to treat a variety of mental health concerns, thanks to its rapid onset antidepressant effects, sometimes providing nearly immediate relief from emotional and physical pain. While the antidepressant effects tend to be temporary after a single ketamine treatment, multiple treatments have proven to have a cumulative effect, successfully alleviating symptoms in approximately 30-60% of individuals with treatment-resistant depression. 🙌🏼

How does it work? In low doses, ketamine can serve as a supportive adjunct to psychotherapy, as it provides an opportunity for the temporary softening of the psychological defenses, allowing for deeper self reflection and psychotherapeutic processing. 📓🖋

In moderate doses, ketamine has psychedelic effects, which have been shown to facilitate profound transpersonal experiences. These types of experiences can help people in a variety of ways, offering important clarity and insight into one's struggles, adding a spiritual dimension to ongoing therapeutic work, and facilitating a sense of meaning and interconnectedness. 🪬✨

We have found that this treatment is most effective when paired with our other forms of healing such as energy work, acupuncture, nutrient IVs, and massage; to complement and deepen the therapeutic process. The pairing of these treatments amplify and prolong the healing effects of ketamine. 📆

Hello Mindful Women! My name is Lauren Leander. I am a Registered Nurse and Usui Holy Fire® Reiki Master at Mindful Medicine. Dr. Kristina Greengard and I are honored to create a space for women looking to connect with each other through practices that make us feel whole and bring us home to ourselves. If you, like Dr. Kristina and I, feel pulled to find a sisterhood and a remembrance of our divine feminine power, Mindful Women is the group for you.

We aim to support each other's spiritual and personal growth collectively through Reiki healing sessions, yoga classes, guided meditation, journaling, embodied movement practices, hiking, sunny lunch dates and more.

✨You asked… we listened! It’s the return of Mindful Meetings ✨

🦻🏼We have had so many requests to bring back our Mindful Meetings, but with a focus on spirituality, OUR FAVORITE TOPIC 🥰

🧒🏻👩🏻Dr. Mike and Dr. K will be guiding the session, with each meeting focused on a different topic. We will start every meeting with a short group meditation, followed by a collaborative and informational group discussion, then conclude with a creative time for introspection (journaling, goal setting, sketching, vision boards, etc). 📝

🗣Our first topic will be something we hold near and dear to our hearts… “mindful meditation”. Have you been curious what it is or how to do it? Or perhaps you have tried it before and you feel like you just can’t quiet your mind, or calm your body enough to sit in one place for a certain amount of time? We can help! 🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏻🧘🏻‍♂️

1️⃣Our first meeting will be May 1st, from 1pm-3pm, located in Suite 18 next to Mindful Medicine. As always, snacks and refreshments will be provided. 🥨🍎☕️🫖

✨We are so excited to announce that we have another doctor joining our team… Dr. Michael Jamshidi, or as he refers to himself, “Dr. Mike”! ✨

👨🏻‍⚕️Dr. Mike uses a hands-on approach with people, building a healing and transformational relationship through bodywork, breathwork, meditation, and therapeutic movement and sound, as well as nutritional and lifestyle adjustments. He commonly works with patients with chronic pain, inflammation, depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, low energy, and sleep issues, as well as other general needs for health and wellness. 😎

📸Dr. Mike is pictured here in the room where he will be offering ketamine treatments at Mindful Medicine. Ketamine (low/sub-anesthetic dose) is a unique treatment used to address a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain, addiction, and some forms of anxiety. Dr. Mike offers acupuncture and bodywork to support the system in opening to the experience, moving blocked energy, and integrating the physiological and energetic effects.😁

We are bringing our meetings back (while still limiting seats). At Mindful Medicine, we know how important connection is, and our goal is to foster connection as best we can. ✨

We are announcing our “Mindful Meetings” for the month of April. For now, they are once per week on Thursday evenings at 5pm.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, space is limited, so we please ask that you reserve your seat by texting our office number at 480-770-6211. 📲

Drinks and light snacks provided. Meetings are always free (money and judgment).🥳🥰

😬🥺I am in major cringe-status as I post this... hoping for a safe, judgment free space ☺️

💃By no means am I a professional dancer, just a latina who enjoys dancing in her living room when no one is looking.👀

🧘🏻‍♀️I post this because I want to share a discovery I made... as much as I ADORE yoga, I have realized it is important to engage in other forms of exercise. I am certainly NOT the gal who wakes up bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and ready to tie the laces on my tennis shoes and run a couple miles. Oh no. Definitely not. 😴

👩🏻‍⚕️However, being a physician, I know the importance of regular exercise on the mind, body and spirit.... so I have settled on an *almost* daily yoga practice. As much as I love yoga, it wasn't quite fulfilling my personal fitness goals so I needed a bit more...🧐

*cue to digging out the 'ol trusty Xbox Kinnect from deep in the storage closet* oh, hello old friend 😍🕹 (hence attached time-lapsed, badly performed, "Dance Central" video)

✨Happy Mindful Monday ✨

🧐Is it just me or is anyone else feeling a little extra "weight" from this quarantine; not only the weight of the pandemic on our mental health, but also around our waistlines? 😅

🙋🏻‍♀️If this describes you... you are not alone! Over the past couple of weeks, this has been far and large the biggest complaint amongst our patients. 🤷🏻‍♀️

❗️First things first... I must make a note about practicing Body Positivity.❗️ Self-care can sometimes masquerade as a way to change or control your appearance, but self-care should focus on doing things that make you feel good about the body you have now. ✊🏻Show respect for your body. 🍎🥦Eat healthy meals because it fuels your mind and body. 🤸‍♀️Exercise because it helps you feel strong and energized, not because you're trying to change or control your body.

🧪With that said, I wanted to take a moment to talk about Food Allergy (Sensitivity) Testing. Many times the foods we eat frequently and seem healthy are contributing to our health problems. Elimination of the offending foods can improve many health problems, can initiate weight loss, and can lead to a better quality of life. DM us today to find out more about your food sensitivities! ✨

🧐Did you know Mindful Medicine has a yoga studio in their medical office? AND did you know that 👩🏻‍⚕️Dr. Katie is also a certified yoga instructor? And it’s not just her...we have not one but TWO yoga instructors at Mindful. Shoutout to Barb!❤️👱🏻‍♀️

🤸🏻‍♀️See Dr. Katie here in a timelapse video trying out the new space for a quick flow! Plenty of space, and plenty of peace. ✌🏼As you probably know, yoga is not only a form of exercise, it’s also a form of moving meditation. 📿🧘🏻‍♀️

✨Mindful Medicine thought it was critical to offer yoga in-office so that each of you can develop a close-knit relationship with your medical office and healthcare providers, but also so you can come to the SAME space you were already coming to, to keep learning about yourself and improving your health and wellbeing. 🥰😌

💪🏻Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, we have classes catered to you. During this pandemic, we are offering virtual classes to fit your individual needs. DM us for more information!📩

✨We are on our fifth, and final, Pillar of Wellness this week! So far, we’ve reviewed PEACE, *P*revention, *E*nergy, *A*ltruism, *C*onnection, and this week is *E* for Exercise.✨

💪Regular exercise is essential for everyone under normal circumstances, however, it is especially crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic. 🦠

🤸‍♀️Exercise reduces stress and anxiety, boosts the immune system, improves sleep, and helps to combat negative effects from any sedentary activities such as sitting at a desk while working, watching TV, etc. 🏋️‍♂️

👩‍⚕️Dr. Kristina and 👩‍⚕️Dr. Katie all try to get daily exercise in unique ways, whether that be exercising in our respective yards 🏋️‍♀️, following a yoga practice from our living rooms 🧘‍♀️, or taking a long bike ride around the neighborhood 🚴‍♂️.

🗣Remember that when we aren’t listening to ourselves or putting faith in others by asking for support, this low level of social connection can heighten anxiety and depression, lower self-esteem, and leave us unable to regulate our emotions or display empathy 🥺😢. These heightened stress levels directly impact immune system function. 🦠

✨We are on our fourth Pillar of Wellness this week! So far, we’ve reviewed PEACE; *P*revention, *E*nergy, *A*ltruism, and this week is *C* for Connection.✨

🥺 This might be somewhat of a sore subject for some of us, as we are forcibly distanced from some of our friends and family.

💻☎️ Let’s remember to practice gratitude for the ability to call loved ones over the phone, and see their faces through plenty of applications.

👥 Lacking connection directly affects our emotional well-being 💔 and immune system function. When we lead lives disconnected from ourselves and others, studies show that your ability to cope with stress is lowered, which can actually then alter our immune system. 🦠

🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ Dr. Kristina and her husband stay connected to each other, and to nature, by riding bikes around the neighborhood. 🏠

✨Do you remember what the A stands for in the 5 Pillars of Wellness, PEACE? In case you missed Monday’s post, it’s *Altruism*. ✨

🦸‍♀️ Altruism is the belief in or practice of disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others. In other words, this is the unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others in the form of charitable acts with pure motivations.

➡️ Monday we gave you some ideas for how to use altruism to inflate your hedonic and eudaemonic happiness during social distancing. 😁

👩‍⚕️Dr. Katie has had her mother in town (in a 700 ft space with 1br/1ba!) for over a month, because in her mom’s immunocompromised condition, flying home to Indiana is significantly more dangerous than staying here in Arizona. So she’s taken extra precautions to stay safe and keep everything as sanitized as possible. Wiping down plastic bags and food containers from the grocery store isn’t something she thought she’d find herself doing. But taking these small, extra steps to serve and protect her mom helps Katie feel really happy. 🥰
