🧠 Can Too Much Fluoride Affect Children’s IQ?
A major review by the National Toxicology Program (NTP) and JAMA Pediatrics just looked at dozens of studies from around the world. 🌍
🔍 What they found:
When fluoride levels go above 1.5 mg/L (about twice the amount usually found in tap water 💧), there’s moderate evidence it may be linked to lower IQ in children.
This includes fluoride from water, food, and even dental products.
✅ Good news:
Most public water systems (like in the U.S. and Canada) keep fluoride levels around 0.7 mg/L, well below the risk threshold.
⚠️ But it’s still a reminder to:
Be mindful of combined exposure (especially for kids)
Use fluoride toothpaste safely (a pea-sized amount!)
Keep an eye on well water or private sources if you live in high-fluoride areas
🧪 Science is evolving. It’s not about fear, it’s about informed choices.
