The cheapest goggles at the store
are usually the reason your kid
won’t put their face in the water.

They leak.
They shift.
They don’t seal.

And now your child isn’t learning to swim

They’re managing equipment.

Gear that doesn’t fit
teaches kids that water is uncomfortable

not that they can do it.

05/21/2026

That goggle covering your child’s nose?

It might be making swimming harder
not easier.

If a child can’t get comfortable
with water on their face
they’re building a workaround
not a foundation

And workarounds break down
when the situation gets real

Gear should support learning
not replace it

We have something to share.

It's not a new class.
It's not a giveaway.
It's not a product.

But it does involve water safety
and reaching more families in Austin.

Stay tuned.

Something drops soon.

At Legacy Tide, teaching goes far beyond the pool.

Our instructors are experienced educators, mentors, and professionals who have dedicated years to aquatics, coaching, and water safety. Many of them also train other instructors and lifeguards across Central Texas.

We believe swimmers deserve thoughtful instruction, real expertise, and teachers who know how to build confidence with patience and intention.

That’s what makes Legacy Tide different.

Building a love for water can start long before swim lessons

These are some of our favorite water-themed books for babies and toddlers to help create comfort, curiosity, and positive experiences around the water from an early age.

Perfect for story time, bath time, or getting little ones excited for the pool.

Sometimes it’s worth testing things out so you don’t have to guess.

After trying these, they’re not a pair I would recommend. Fit, comfort, and quality matter a lot more than price when it comes to goggles.

That said, you can still find good swim gear at a discount. You just have to know what to look for.

Thanks for following along and learning with me.

Not all goggles are created equal, and not every pair will work for every swimmer.

In our lessons, we see a wide range of goggles, especially for kids. Some work really well, others can make things harder than they need to be.

The key is finding a pair that fits comfortably, stays in place, and actually supports learning in the water.

There’s no one perfect goggle for every child, but knowing what to look for makes a big difference.

This is exactly why we don’t recommend swim masks for learning.

At first glance, they seem fun and easy—but when you look closer, the issues show up fast. Poor sealing around the nose, flimsy materials, and rough edges can lead to leaks and discomfort.

Even small details like uneven construction or low-quality silicone can make a big difference in how they feel and perform.

While the split strap is a plus, it’s not enough to make up for the overall fit and quality concerns.

The goal is gear that supports confidence—not distracts from it.

Think your little one is too young for the water? Think again! There's no magic age to start learning. With the right guidance, babies as young as 6 months can begin building water confidence and safety skills. The earlier they start, the more comfortable they become. Why wait when they're already ready?
