As a graduate of the University of Iowa with Bachelor of Science degree I have worked in the health and fitness industry for now over 15 years. As an expert in the field I hold certifications through ACE, ACSM and NSCA with continuing education completed on an annual basis. I was always an active child who played many sports and that carried into high school which is when I knew that health and fi
tness was my passion. I believe that you should be in tune with your body – what you eat and how you treat it speaks volumes in almost everything you do. I worked at a corporate wellness center when I graduated college and then six years later I took a leap – a BIG leap! I opened my own personal training studio, and I am extremely proud that I ran a successful business for almost 10 years. I appreciated the interaction with each client, and loved to see each client transform their minds, bodies and lifestyles. After 10 years of operation with the franchise I had the opportunity to sell which was a huge decision but ended up being a great one. I can now train my clients at a lower rate, avoiding the cost of overhead. This has been a great experience! Additionally, I have been teaching group fitness classes for over 15 years. I teach a variety of classes including: Insanity, HIIT, Tabata, Fitness Pilates, Cycle, Aqua, weight training/sculpting and Bootcamp. I believe that as an instructor and Personal Trainer it is important to show modifications to each exercise so each participant can do the class and feel great. I have three young boys (6, 4 and 2 years old) that keep me on my toes on a daily basis. I am a runner and have completed many races including 18 marathons (and counting!). I worked out and ran throughout all nine months of each pregnancy. I am that girl who doesn’t feel right until her run is complete. It’s amazing what a great workout can do for you! The key is combining the right amount of exercise, with the right nutrition AND the right amount of rest. Overall health is so important and helping others achieve this goal is my passion. I practice what I preach! I believe that what you eat is about 80% of your success, but your workouts still play a big role! So, let’s work together and have some fun. I am looking forward to it!
