Noise can be overwhelming at times, and when you look at all the options to combat noise it can be hard to decide which is better for you or your child. These are the types of devices we use in our clinic. “Deadphones” (noise canceling headphones) are great for situations where you can hear very minimal noise, but can still enjoy your experience. However there are times when it’s important you can hear what’s going on around you, but need the loud noises stopped for focus or to stop sensory overload. At those times we would recommend noise dampening earbuds, they are less visible but allow you to hear what is going on around you just at a lower volume to make the day to day tasks less overstimulating.

If you’re planning to watch fireworks this week and your child is autistic or has sensory sensitivities, please remember to bring hearing protection 🎆🧡
Fireworks can be beautiful but overwhelmingly loud. Good ear muffs or noise-cancelling headphones can help make the fun safe and comfortable for your kiddo — and for you too!
Stay safe, protect those ears, and enjoy the show! 🎇🧡🎆
