Me not posting doesn’t mean I’m not busy. 😝
Short week last week with Labor Day but still managed to see a lot of humans and animals. Then Friday I left at noon to see my favorite Spock on the way out of Amarillo, then stopped to see show lambs to get them ready for the Tri-State fair. After that it was Colorado. Cheyenne wanted to make sure she got a selfie before I left. Barnabas welcomed me to the barn. When up I pretty much have to stop at the amazing Coyote Den. Great local business in Penrose. Lots of dogs and horses this trip. Then said goodbye to the ranch for this trip and saddled up in the Silver Bullet (no that’s not really my trucks name and no I don’t drink that either 😂). Until next time CO 🫡 🐴 🐶. Now to get ready for a full week on both sides of the office!

Well stated so I’m sharing.
I’m licensed in both Texas and Colorado.
Texas requires vet authorization. Colorado is direct access. In either case, I send notes to the primary DVM because I believe co-management is best for all animals.

Just as the doc posted here, if I’m not able to get to you or you are out of my area, I always point to other certified animal chiropractors. Choose licensed and certified!

There are people out there who claim to be “animal chiropractors”…

Some say they manipulate animals.
Some use the term “animal chiropractor” in quotes or parentheses, because they aren’t actually trained or certified.

🚨 This is a serious red flag.

Becoming an animal chiropractor requires years of education, training, and certification. Here’s a look at what’s involved:

✅ A Bachelor’s degree (typically in biology or a related field)
✅ A Doctorate in either Chiropractic (DC) or Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
✅ Passing all required board exams (for chiropractors: Parts I, II, III, IV, and Physiotherapy)
✅ Completion of an accredited 220hr animal chiropractic program
✅ Passing of the AVCA certification exam and/or IVCA certificate exam
✅ A current active DC or DVM license
✅ Ongoing continuing education for professional licensure, whether DC or DVM
✅ Ongoing continuing education to maintain animal chiropractic certification
✅ Malpractice insurance, which those who are unlicensed can not obtain
✅ Compliance with your state’s laws (in Illinois, for example, a veterinarian must sign off on animal chiropractic care)

As you can see, becoming an animal chiropractor takes 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 of commitment and rigorous training.

👉 Please do not trust anyone who is not properly educated, licensed, and certified to perform chiropractic care on animals. It’s not just unethical, it can be dangerous.

💡 Always ask:
Are they licensed?
Are they certified?
Do they follow state laws?

AVCA is the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association and IVCA is International Veterinary Chiropractic Association. If a doctor completes their education passing their certification exam and maintains their required continuing ed, they will automatically be listed. Question those who are not. If they do have the qualifications, they should welcome you asking, just like Dr. Cat and I would.

I don’t have a pre video, but Champ’s owner had to carry him in his first three visits. No use of hind legs. Today he walked in. He was able to get up off the slick floor by himself. I was already having a good week, but this made my day!

💎When you complete my intake form, I am creating space, love & hope for your animal within my being for as long as they live- oftentimes longer... Even if I am only blessed to encounter them one time & I never hear from you again [the exception, not the rule, but it happens].

💎I'm excited and energized to see you together & thriving- doing what you love! I feel your losses & lessons if you share them, too.

💎Your animals become my shower thoughts. And my driving around thoughts [and I drive A LOT]. If you've ever gotten a "Just checking in!" message from me, it's not because I have an automated list of follow-ups to get to or because I'm self-interested [most of my colleagues have crippling student-loan debt, we paid mine off the day before graduation]... It's because you crossed my mind or I passed your place and I am genuinely wondering how you and your animal are doing. Working with me is an investment in YOU.

💎Just because I offer maintenance when your animal is feeling better, does NOT mean there is something wrong with them. You don't need to be broken to receive chiropractic. Every professional sports team has a chiropractor on staff. Animals are athletes, are designed to move WELL & they should be treated as such. The time to get adjusted is not just when something is WRONG, but rather when things are going well & you'd like to continue as such. [I'll save this soapbox for another time.]

💎I've never assessed an animal that was completely clear of subluxation prior to adjusting. This is because no one- not even animals- are immune to the inevitable stresses of life.

💎We get lumped in with musculoskeletal therapists/bodyworkers but what we do [when done correctly by a Licensed & Certified Doctor] is SO much more profound- we use the spine as a lever to assess stress/tension/fixation/stagnation/interference [whatever you want to call it] on the NERVOUS SYSTEM which controls everything from you waking up in the morning to trying to not drop your phone on your face while late-night scrolling. It's not about twists, snaps and pops [sowwy].

💎For myself & my practice, it's about relationships. It's about understanding your goals with/for your animal and playing a small [sometimes big] part in helping you both get there.

As always, I'm endlessly grateful for the amazing multispecies community in which I am blessed to serve & the incredible humans who choose to trust me with the care of those they love most. 🐾 🐎

Great start to Colorado animal Chiro. Saw Spock the Pyrenees golden mix (not pictured) and Schmickey the show lamb (not pictured) before leaving the panhandle. Wind wasn’t kind to my truck 😏 but that’s what happens when you burn up the pavement.

I had to include a pic of the Nigerian dwarf goat even if he didn’t get adjusted today!!

Tomorrow: equine and a couple canine. 💪
