Sometimes the biggest productivity killer can be the sheer overwhelming amount of information and thoughts consuming our minds.

When you wear many hats and feel like there are a number of competing priorities, or perhaps struggle to organize and prioritize thoughts due to ADD/ADHD— or (even more fun) both—trying to force yourself to organize into documents, schedules, and calendars DIRECTLY from your brain can come with A LOT of unnecessary friction.

This is one of those times where that phrase "I need space to think" is very literally what your brain will benefit from—a physically large space to 'brain dump' WITHOUT RULES.

I personally use dry erase boards and (sometimes) a huge roll of butcher paper—both come in exceptionally handy...

For example, when I'm doing extra creative brainstorming with very big ideas, I often like to relocate (out of my office) to my front room and unroll the butcher paper over a large coffee table facing a window.

This checks multiple boxes to enable the creative process and flow state.

1. It's novel - I rarely work in their (or even spend much time in there otherwise) AND it faces outdoors.
2. It's a physically large open space
3. I have a large 'canvas' to work on with no rules

I'll generally organize ideas from this into mind maps, and then into some form of documentation. Occasionally, I'll use an Eisenhower matrix to prioritize the order in which tasks should be executed.

So, next time you feel like your brain is overloaded with idas or competing demands, don't make the process unnecessarily arduous and overwhelming.

Give yourself space. Brain dump with ZERO rules. THEN organize and prioritize.

Transformation isn't built in 30-day challenges you'll abandon by February. It's built in 2-minute decisions, repeated on most days, that become who you are.

The proof? It's in the basic math. Even if you have 100 completely off days, you're still exponentially better. Even if you regress 100 days, you still win.

This is what sustainable performance looks like. Not perfection. Consistency -> Progress.

If you've recently come into my life or just came upon your post, you might start swipping and think 'okay, overachiever'. Sure, I have definitely become a knowledge and personal development addict... but I MUST emphasize that I BECAME this way.

Not spontaneously, or with a magic wand, but with a deep desire to rewire my mind and become the best version of myself, which is a lifelong adaptive process...

One that begins with unbecoming—letting go of what no longer serves you, tapping into the power of your mind and aligning with your core needs and purpose.

Tbh, as I started listing things that I've achieved or developed, either out of desire or necessity, I was slightly taken aback and felt a sense of accomplishment. I hadn't reflected in this capacity before. Sure, I've thought of the things I've done, but never listed the decades long journey I've been on in this manner...

And I'm glad I did. If this post helps one single person realize they are capable of SO MUCH MORE than their limiting beliefs or their circumstances...

EVERYTHING you need to become your desired self, move through the world with purpose, and live your most fulfilled life exists within you, right now...

You just haven't learned how to access it yet.
