They want us to have the babies but not the healthcare, not the postpartum support, and definitely not the childcare.
This “One Big Trash Bill” strips away access to Medicaid, defunds clinics that save lives, and leaves mothers to fend for themselves in the name of politics.
Even in two-income households, childcare is nearly unaffordable, if it’s even available. And the idea that one parent can “just stay home” is out of touch with the cost of living crisis we’re all facing. Nevermind the single parent households.
How can you claim to be pro-life while cutting every lifeline families need to actually live?
Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum aren’t just political talking points. They’re real, raw, and require REAL support.
We deserve better. Our babies deserve better.
And let’s be clear, I’m not afraid to “talk politics,” especially when policies directly impact people and families. But this post isn’t about politics, it’s about the realities I see every day as a doula.
My dad said something interesting recently about being a business owner and shying away from specific topics with fear of losing donors, business, etc. He said “how can someone take something from me that they never gave to me in the first place?” 👏🏾😌
I will always stand on business when it comes to this work.
