Friends, Colleagues, and Supporters,

Nearly six years ago, we launched The SHARE Project with a mission to provide Support, Education, and Awareness in our community and beyond, particularly in response to the addiction epidemic and the tragic effect it had on our own families. At that time, addiction was widely misunderstood, heavily stigmatized, and often discussed only behind closed doors. Thankfully, due to the incredible efforts of the recovery community, we have seen meaningful progress. While there is still work to be done, awareness and understanding have greatly improved.

Over the years, we have had the privilege of building meaningful connections and collaborating with individuals who are true driving forces in treatment, support, and recovery. We deeply cherish these relationships and will continue to support and uplift those making a difference in this space.

In recent months, we have come to the realization that The SHARE Project can best serve the greater good by transitioning into a more behind-the-scenes role. As passionate volunteers, our mission has always been to create change and support those on their recovery journey. Moving forward, we believe it is time to entrust the leadership of this work to the trained professionals, our friends in peer support, treatment, and recovery, who are uniquely equipped to guide this movement.

That said, we are not going anywhere. We will maintain our 501(c)(3) status and continue collaborating with the incredible individuals and organizations that have been part of our journey. We remain committed to attending and speaking at events and seminars as needed. Our mission to distribute NARCAN (Naloxone) remains unchanged. As you may know, we currently have three FREE O.A.K. (Overdose Aid Kit) NARCAN Distribution Boxes in the area. With the support of our valued recovery partners, we will continue to monitor and restock these life-saving resources.

We have immense love and respect for the parents, family members, peer support specialists, social workers, treatment providers, event organizers, and all those we have had the honor of working alongside over the past six years. You have been an essential part of our support system, just as we hope we have been part of yours. Please know that you can always reach out to either of us. We will continue to attend, support or even speak at your events - we just will not currently be hosting our own. While we will be taking our website offline for now, our email will remain active and monitored at info@theshareproject.org.

With Gratitude,
Michele Rogers & Lisa Falbo

August is Overdose Awareness month... the perfect opportunity to get comfortable talking about substance use and overdose. It doesn't just happen to "other people", addiction can happen to anyone and in any family.

We at The SHARE Project, recently installed our third Overdose Aid Kit - OAK in Haywood County.

Most people donโ€™t realize that some accidental opioid overdoses are reversible with the quick administration of an opioid antagonist called naloxone, commonly found as a nasal spray and sold under the brand name of Narcan.

Narcan is safe, quick and easy to use โ€” even by those with no training โ€” and could give a person in distress good odds of surviving an overdose and a chance at recovery.

Each OAK, a large metal box, is stocked with a dozen boxes of free Naloxone and fentanyl test strips, along with resources to help persons with substance use disorder find help treating and beating their addiction.

When Michele and I started The SHARE Project, one of our main goals was to help save lives!

One of the ways we have been doing that is placing Overdose Aid Kit - OAK boxes filled with Naloxone (Narcan) in locations around Haywood County. And we just placed box # #๏ธโƒฃ #๏ธโƒฃ3๏ธโƒฃ! Our good friend Nicole at Behavioral Health Group Clyde (BHG), graciously agreed to let us place one in their parking lot.

This box will stay stocked with the lifesaving opioid overdose reversal drug, Naloxone. If you or someone you know, has a loved one struggling with their substance use, stop by, get a box and keep it accessible at all times.
