UAII welcomed Simon Flagg, CEO of Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative in Victoria, Australia, to our campus on July 22, 2025 for a cultural exchange. While our organizations operate in different countries and cultural contexts, Wathaurong shares UAII’s mission of empowering our Indigenous community through culturally grounded programs and social support.

Global Indigenous exchanges provide UAII and our partners around the world with a vital opportunity for shared learning that informs and improves the way we deliver service. This partnership will help us expand our perspectives, inspire new ideas, and ultimately enhance the impact we have on our communities to create a more resilient future for our people.

📍Finding our roots | UAII youth field trip

This week, our youth visited UAII’s original location on Winston Street in Skid Row near Indian Alley to explore our 51-year legacy serving Native communities in LA. They stood where our elders once stood, asking meaningful questions about relocation, identity, and how UAII became a place of healing.

This visit matters because understanding where we come from gives power to where we’re going. As Native communities today continue to fight for visibility, justice, and sovereignty, our youth carry forward the strength, stories, and spirit of those who came before.
