Patient had severe hip pain but had no idea why. Remembers an injury as a child but nothing since. It’s hurt for years but they never did anything about it.
This person was referred to an orthopedic surgeon. They opted for the hip replacement and returned once cleared for rehab.
Many people don’t think they need X-rays or any form of imaging. This is typically not true.
Imaging is a KEY part of the doctor properly diagnosing the patient.
Another MYTH is people think that their pain will go away. This is also not true in most cases.
Pain is sign that something’s wrong. If the same pain keeps coming back a year apart OR 3 years apart, OR even 6 months apart, the issue is bigger than you think and needs to be treated/addressed.
Do yourself the favor of figuring out the actual problem instead of masking. You can save yourself years of discomfort.
I’ll be posting many of these to show you all why you should get the imaging if your doctor recommends it. Sometimes, it’s life or death and others it’s living a healthier, better life versus staying where you are. I prefer “safe than sorry” any day.
