This past year has stretched me in more ways than I could have imagined.
Navigating my final postpartum journey and stepping fully into motherhood with five children has been both humbling and transformative. If I'm being honest—meal planning and cooking often took a back seat. Most days, I was simply surviving—and that survival didn’t always look picture-perfect. Sometimes it meant drive-thru dinners or skipping meals altogether, and that’s okay.
To every postpartum mama out there just trying to make it through the day with little ones alive and fed—I see you. I’ve been there too. And I want you to know: survival is still progress. It counts.
But as this new season unfolds, I’m finding a rhythm again. I’m proud to say it’s been nearly a month of consistent, home-cooked, budget-friendly meals—and it feels so good. As a functional medicine nutritionist, this is one of my favorite parts of the journey—rediscovering the joy of nourishing myself and my family, and testing out tools that make the process easier. My trusty Instant Pot (or should I say pots—I have a few now!) continues to be a game-changer.
(Not sponsored, but hey Instant Pot … I’m open to a conversation!)
I still remember when my in-laws gifted me my first one. It sat in the box for months until I finally gathered the courage to try it. Now, it gets used more than my stove!
When I say I’m not your typical nutritionist, I mean it. I’m walking this path in real time, with my own health challenges and healing journey. And you know what? It is well with my soul.
If you’ve been feeling stuck in old habits or overwhelmed by where to start—take heart. You don’t need to wait for the perfect time. Today is always a good time to begin again.
With love and grace,
Alicia
