Carpet cleaning is a chore that many people put off until it's absolutely necessary. However, if you clean your carpets regularly, you will save and prolong its life spand.

Here are some tips for carpet cleaning 👇

1. Get door mats for both the inside and outside of your door. Excess dirt or salt can be removed from your shoes by wiping them off twice. When you get inside, take off your shoes and place them on a boot tray to keep slush and sand off your floors.

2. Vacuum your carpets more frequently, ideally 2-3 times per week, to remove any salt that has dragged inside. If you leave salt on your rugs, it will act like a piece of sandpaper, cutting away at the carpet fibres every time you walk over it. Vacuuming your carpet on a regular basis will help to prevent wear and tear on your rug, extending its life.

3. If you already have a salt stain on your carpet you can use a mixture of warm water and white vinegar to remove or reduce it. Simply mix a half part warm water and half part white vinegar in a spray bottle, then spray the stained area with the solution. Gently stir the salt to the surface by blotting with a cloth or using a brush. Finally, press a clean, dry towel over the area. Once the carpet is dry, vacuum to remove any additional salt that remains.
