Tuesday reminder for our Sussex County community ๐Ÿ’™

"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." - Maya Angelou

๐Ÿ’™ Your struggles aren't flaws in your story. They're the transformation.
๐Ÿ’œ Healing isn't pretty. Change doesn't happen in a straight line.
๐Ÿ’™ Growth requires breaking down before building up.

Whether you're working through loss, trauma, burnout, life transitions, substance use or any challenge that's reshaped you - every difficult moment isn't separate from your strength. That IS your strength.

Try to see the whole story - not just the end result, but the courage it takes to rebuild. The sleepless nights, the hard conversations, the days when progress feels impossible.

What transformation can you honor in yourself today?

๐Ÿ’™ Maybe it's learning to trust again after betrayal.
๐Ÿ’œ Maybe it's setting boundaries after years of burnout.
๐Ÿ’™ Maybe it's having one difficult but necessary conversation.
๐Ÿ’œ Maybe it's just getting through yesterday.

**All of it matters. All of it counts.**

At CFPC. we've had 50 years of witnessing beautiful transformations in Sussex County and we're here to help. If you or someone you know needs support navigating substance use or addiction, please call/text 844-722-5327.

Today on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember those we've lost and recommit to being one big family united in hope and action.

The overdose crisis and addiction touch every corner of our community - our schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. But it also reminds us that our lives are deeply connected, and we have the power to change what comes next.

At the Center for Prevention and Counseling, we believe in second, third, and fourth chances, in compassion that extends beyond our own families, and in meeting people exactly where they are without judgment.

We move beyond awareness to action. Here's how we're here to help our community family:

๐Ÿ”น FREE Opioid Overdose Prevention Training - First Friday of every month

๐Ÿ”น FREE Narcan/Naloxone kits - Call or text our 24/7 helpline: 844-722-5327

๐Ÿ”น Harm Reduction Center at 61 Spring St, Newton - Offering syringe access & disposal, Narcan/naloxone, drug test strips, peer support, and healthcare referrals
(Mon-Fri 9-4, call 844-722-5327 option 3)

๐Ÿ”นSussex County Recovery Community Center offers sober events, activities, meetings and social events

๐Ÿ”นOur clinical team offers individual, family, and youth counseling for substance use disorders

๐Ÿ”นAddiction Recovery Supports team offers case management, peer recovery coaching and support and more

Our approach promotes health and wellness, saves lives and breaks down stigma.

Every story shared, every voice raised, and every person who seeks help brings us closer to a future free from overdose. No one should carry this grief alone.

There's always hope.๐Ÿ’œ There's always help. ๐Ÿ’œ

Drive Sober This Labor Day, and Every Day!

During the Labor Day holiday period, we typically see an increase in drunk-driving deaths โ€” and that's why you'll likely see more law enforcement on the roads.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over aims to educate people about the dangers and consequences of driving drunk.

Have a Plan Whether You're Driving, Riding or Hosting

โ˜‘๏ธBefore drinking, plan a safe and sober ride home.
โ˜‘๏ธDonโ€™t let someone get behind the wheel if they've been drinking.
โ˜‘๏ธIf youโ€™re hosting a gathering, make sure all your guests have a sober ride home.
โ˜‘๏ธIf you see an impaired driver, call 911. And always wear your seat belt โ€” itโ€™s your best defense against impaired drivers.

โ€œI didnโ€™t think Iโ€™d get caughtโ€ is a lousy excuse for drinking and driving. This PSA from NHTSA highlights some of the many impacts of a DUIโ€”including owning...

What if the most powerful conversations happen in the quiet moments? ๐Ÿ’™

Tonight, try something radical: eat dinner without devices. Put the phones in a basket, turn off the TV, and just... listen.

๐Ÿ’™Listen to the silence between bites.

๐Ÿ’™Listen to someone's day unfold.

๐Ÿ’™Listen to the stories that only emerge when there's space for them.

๐Ÿ’™It might feel awkward at first. Kids might complain. You might reach for your phone out of habit. That's all normal.

But in those quiet spaces - that's where families rediscover each other. Where you learn what's really on your teenager's mind. Where your 8-year-old finally tells you about what happened at recess. Where you remember what your partner's laugh sounds like without background noise.

Connection doesn't require perfect conversations. Sometimes it just requires showing up to the silence together. ๐Ÿ’™

Try it tonight. What do you discover?
