We get it. Life can get in the way sometimes, and the deadline for enrolling in health insurance came and went in the blink of an eye.

Although the deadline has passed, it doesn’t hurt to check if any of these special enrollment qualifying events apply to you:

February is — do you know how to do these self-health checks? 🔎

Taking control of your health by creating small habits that can increase your chances of detecting and preventing potential health issues is important.

In between visits to your general healthcare provider, perform these self-checks at home:

☑️ Check your blood pressure

Normal blood pressure for adults is between 90/60 and 120/80 mmHg. Higher levels can indicate a risk factor for stroke, heart attack, or kidney disease.

☑️ Take your temperature

A normal temperature for adults is around 98.6° F. Higher temperatures could mean a bacterial or viral infection.

☑️ Breast self-exam

At-home breast cancer checks are essential between appointments. Look for any abnormal thickening, lumps, or bumps in your breasts and any changes to the skin or ni***es.

☑️ Testicle self-exam

Catch potential testicular cancer early by checking yourself for unusual swelling or lumps.

☑️ Look at your skin

Screen yourself at home for skin cancer by monitoring new growths or moles that have started bleeding, itching, or crusting over.

Let’s talk about in-network vs. out-of-network when it comes to your health insurance! 🏥

Depending on your specific plan, different doctors, hospitals, and healthcare providers will be included either as in-network or out-of-network.

👉🏾 If you go with out-of-network providers, be prepared to pay more and have fewer costs covered.

That’s because when a doctor joins your insurance company’s network, they agree to charge less, so you pay less.
