November is a time of change. Be mindful of your health during this time and take a few extra steps going into winter.
1. Stay hydrated- we forget water is essential at all times of the year, not just when it is hot. Yes, you can become dehydrated in fall/winter. Drink at least 32oz or if you can, 1/2 your weight in ounces.
2. Eat seasonally- these foods are nutrient dense, and fresh for the season. The nutrition in food that is seasonal will help to keep your immunity strong, and these types of foods are available locally.
3. Stay warm, dress in layers. It is essential to keep the body temperature comfortable. Layers give us the ability to adjust accordingly.
4. Get a good Vitamin D supplement and take it daily with food. The seasonal change along with the daylight change can catch up to us mentally, so stay ahead with Vitamin D.
5. Be mindful of your mood. Changes in the seasons can be disruptive to our mental health. Practice self care and ask for help if you need it and seek out support from your healthcare provider.
6. Finally, embrace the Grey! Look around, take a moment, to find the beauty in the day, as grey as it may be.
As always, call Hillside Wellness if you have questions and we will be happy to help you find the answers!
