Montana Abortion Access Program Montana’s Statewide Abortion Fund The Montana Abortion Access Program (MAAP) is Montana's state-wide abortion fund.

MAAP protects and fosters reproductive autonomy by providing access to abortion care through financial, logistical, and emotional support. MAAP works with folks facing barriers to accessing abortion care, including both Montanans and folks seeking abortion care in Montana. We offer financial, practical (covering the costs of travel, lodging, food, and/or childcare), and emotional support to our clients. We trust our clients to know their bodies and needs best. We are a Montana-based nonprofit and affiliate of the National Network of Abortion Funds.

We're gearing up for another beautiful Fund-A-Thon season, and we'd love to have you join us! 🎉

Fund-A-Thon is an annual peer-to-peer fundraising event, where pro-choice folks join together to fundraise for their local abortion fund (and if you live in Montana, that’s us!).

Want to learn more? We'll be hosting Fund-A-Thon information sessions on Zoom on March 10th and 19th. We'd love to see you there! Check out the linktree in our bio for more information.

With rising insurance costs, changes to social safety nets, and restrictions on Planned Parenthood's use of Medicaid, we've seen a significant increase in client applications and average support pledged over the past year.

We've set a goal to raise at least $35,000 from March to May, a portion of which will be matched by the National Network of Abortion Funds. So get your fundraising pants on and start spreading the word! You can support MAAP by joining us as an individual fundraiser, hosting an event, or donating!

Stay tuned here for more details on Fund-A-Thon and how you can get involved!

In January, received 66 applications and pledged $24,266 to support 56 clients seeking abortion care.

While January is often a slower month following the holidays, the need for support remains significant. Just one month earlier, in December, MAAP pledged $33,493 to support 83 clients, marking the largest single-month pledge in our history.

January’s numbers reflect a continued demand for abortion access and reinforce that this level of need is no longer temporary, it’s becoming the new normal for MAAP. We are deeply grateful to this community; your support allows us to keep showing up for Montanans and meeting people where they are, when they need us most.

In many states, access to abortion care literally depends on clinics staying open. When these clinics close, entire regions are left without care.

Join Revival Comedy for our annual Roe v. Wade show, in which we celebrate our abortion rights and raise funds to continue making sure that everyone in Montana has affordable, easy access to abortion services.

With the historic law overturned in June 2022, it is more important than ever to speak up about abortion rights and make certain that women and marginalized genders across the state have access to safe, affordable, and private abortions. As in previous years, this show will be in support of the Montana Abortion Access Program (MAAP), which helps hundreds of Montanans access abortion care each year by removing financial barriers and providing support.

This show is also Revival Comedy’s annual celebration of women and marginalized genders in comedy. Come watch the best stand-ups in town perform alongside our rising stars — and a few people who are just starting out.

This show is rated R — kids are welcome at your own discretion, but please be aware that it contains adult language and subject matter.

Most people assume religion has always opposed abortion, but that’s not the full story.

Before Roe v. Wade, abortion was illegal in much of the U.S. In response, Protestant ministers, Jewish rabbis, and other faith leaders formed the Clergy Consultation Service (CCS) to help people access safe, compassionate care.

From 1967–1973, this network quietly supported tens of thousands of people across 40 states with counseling and referrals, grounded in their belief that care and autonomy mattered.

This forgotten history reminds us that faith has long been part of protecting reproductive freedom, and that abortion access has always been about community care.

Our Story

The mission of the Susan Wicklund Fund is simple: Provide financial aid to people who need abortion care but cannot afford it. Formerly known as Trust Women Fund, we are a small group of volunteers dedicated to supporting the freedom of choice and loyal to a leader in reproductive health; Dr. Susan Wicklund. From 2009 to 2013 the woman’s health care provider; Mountain Country Women’s Clinic in Livingston, Montana treated local patients traveling far and wide across the State, but also the entire American North West, and even some residents of foreign countries. Women traveled this far because of the open practices of Susan Wicklund; she never turned away a patient in need, was willing to see a woman any hour of the day- seven days a week, and the cost was more affordable at her clinic than any other within the state. With the recent loss of this valuable care due to Dr. Wicklund retiring and the closing of the clinic in Livingston, we hope to carry on the mission to help women in need. We believe as Susan does, that no woman should be forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy because of her financial situation.
