Here are the most commons features of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), the most commonly treated disorder by rheumatologists:
1) Joint swelling: RA causes inflammation of the joints. This can translate into pain, swelling, heat, or redness of the joints.
2) Inflammation around the heart: RA can cause fluid to accumulate between the heart and the lining around the heart (pericardium)
3) Eye inflammation: RA can cause eye disease presenting as eye redness, pain, or difficulty looking at lights.
4) Lung inflammation: RA can cause inflammation of the lung tissue, or fluid to build up around the gutters of the lung.
