Did you know that only 5% of babies are born on their due date?



A due date is only a guess and it's usually wrong! I like to suggest that my clients think of their "due month" instead.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. And so is the day your baby is born.

However, one study showed that in the last 3 months leading up to their wedding, brides spent an average of 11 hours a week working on wedding details.

How much time are you spending on planning your birth and the first few days and weeks with your baby?

In my experience, most people (myself included!) don't put the same time and energy into planning for and learning about birth...and a lot of people I talk to say they regret that.

Hiring a birth doula is almost like hiring a wedding planner.

We can talk you through all the options available so that you can make the best choices for you and your partner.
We're experts on the local resources.
We're not here to tell you how to have the best birth. We're here to help you create the birth you've been imagining and dreaming about.
We don't replace your partner. A wedding planner doesn't take over for your family members. Same goes for a birth doula - we help family members find ways to be helpful and involved when you want them to be.

Lots of people ask me what the difference is between a doula and a midwife.



A midwife is a medical professional who actually delivers your baby. Midwives also provide medical care throughout pregnancy as well.

A birth doula is a non-medical professional who provides physical, educational and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth and immediately afterwards.



While a midwife is incredibly supportive and important, they also have a responsibility to care for multiple patients at once. As your doula I have the gift of being present to support you continuously throughout your entire birthing experience.

As a birth doula, I offer continuous support throughout your pregnancy and your labor and birth.



So often, pregnant people talk about the midwife or doctor that they really love and that they hope they're "on call" for their labor and delivery.



But that's the thing...it all depends who's on call.



And, you can get lucky and have a great nurse but they'll have to leave at the shift change.



As your birth doula, I'm the one who will meet with you for every single prenatal appointment that we schedule and for the duration of your labor - no matter how long it takes.



In labor, knowing what to expect and having someone by your side that you trust helps you stay relaxed and confident.

*less likely to have c-section
