Her expertise is in teaching “pose precision” and helping students to achieve anatomical alignment. Dara hails from Louisville, KY: home of bourbon, tobacco and too many fast food chains, where she owned a 1400 square-foot yoga studio for 4 years. She later moved to Denver, CO and now teaches and lives in Syracuse, NY. Dara has been teaching yoga for 18 years and specializes in pose precision and
body alignment. Dara has studied with many great teachers including John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga, Douglas Brooks, Desiree Rumbaugh, Sianna Sherman, Doug Keller, and Tom Myers, a Rolfer and author of the book Anatomy Trains. Dara currently teaches at Syracuse University, Everson Museum of Art, and Wacheva Dance and Drum. She also teaches specialty classes including Phoga, yoga for photographers at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication, yoga as part of SU's CRS Mindful Communication Skills classes, Mother-Daughter yoga, and is the co-facilitator for Goddess Girls: A Coming of Age Circle for Girls. Dara also manages the Greater Syracuse Yoga Teacher Co-op and Yoga for Refugees, a group dedicated to extending the reach of yoga to under-served communities.
