Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness month? Mental health can be just as important to talk about as physical. Depression and anxiety can affect people of all ages. While many symptoms are similar across the board, there can be unique challenges seen more often in older adults, with specific characteristics to look for:
- Persistent Sadness or Loss of Interest
- Physical Complaints
- Cognitive Changes
- Social Withdrawal
- Sleep Disturbances
- Excessive Worry
- Su***de or Self-harm

If several of these signs persist for more than two weeks, it’s important to consult a doctor.

Award Amounts up to:

Married Veteran: $2727
Single Veteran: $2300
Surviving Spouse: $1478
Duel Veterans: $3339

These are monies available thru the VA for your Senior Dad, Mom, relative if they served during WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf (Eligible Dates vary). This is a cash benefit, that can be used to pay for any type of long-term care. A recipient can use the money to pay for a care home, assisted living, in-home care, skilled nursing, respite care, or anything else that falls under the long-term care designation.
