The 17-year-old former Conway Wampus Cat football player was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) – a rare kidney disease that affects about one child in every 100,000 each year and causes scar tissue on the small parts of the kidneys, preventing them from effectively filtering waste from the blood.
In November, Daveion was one of three patients to receive a kidney transplant at Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) within just four days. Thanks to the expert transplant team at ACH, he received a new kidney and a new lease on life.
