The Nursing Excellence team in Little Rock led their July RN Residency cohort this week, welcoming 105 new graduate nurses! 🩺💙

In addition to the Pursuit of Excellence Pathway onboarding and specialized training, new nurses participate in professional nursing orientation (PNO), a four-day orientation program followed by EPIC training and area-specific orientation. PNO includes presentations on clinical ethics, creating a healthy work environment, patient experience, safety and other topics to prepare nurses for their new roles.

Lametria Wafford, director of nursing excellence, shared, "This group of nurses are so excited to be here! To see their enthusiasm is encouraging to me. We have something special here—just watch!"

Congratulations to all of our new nurses!

Big things are happening at Arkansas Children’s Hospital! Today, we celebrated a major milestone in our clinical expansion by topping out our new main entrance. 🏗️🌲🇺🇸

In this time-honored tradition, the final beam—signed by team members, patients and families—was raised to the highest point, adorned with an evergreen tree to symbolize growth and an American flag to honor every hand that helped bring us here.

Thank you to the incredible construction crews, architects, engineers and Arkansas Children’s team members who made this moment possible.

Stay tuned for more expansion updates as we continue building a healthier tomorrow for the kids of Arkansas: archildrens.org/expansion

From Friday night lights to a life-saving transplant, Daveion Andrews’ journey is one of strength, faith and resilience. 🏈 💚

The 17-year-old former Conway Wampus Cat football player was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) – a rare kidney disease that affects about one child in every 100,000 each year and causes scar tissue on the small parts of the kidneys, preventing them from effectively filtering waste from the blood.

In November, Daveion was one of three patients to receive a kidney transplant at Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) within just four days. Thanks to the expert transplant team at ACH, he received a new kidney and a new lease on life.
