🌈 Navigating the Grief of Parenthood Expectations vs. Reality 🌟

Hey Parents, let’s get real for a moment. Parenthood often comes with dreams and expectations of how everything will unfold. But what happens when reality doesn’t quite match up? 🤔 Here’s a heartfelt reminder that it’s okay to grieve what you thought parenthood would be like and embrace your unique journey.

💭 Expectations vs. Reality:
We all envision a perfect parenting experience—happy milestones, smooth routines, and endless joy. But reality can be messy, unpredictable, and sometimes overwhelming. And that’s okay! 🌪️

🔍 Signs You Might Be Grieving Parenthood Expectations:

Feeling disappointed or frustrated when things don’t go as planned.
Struggling with comparing your parenting journey to others.
Experiencing sadness over missed milestones or changes in your initial vision of parenting.
🌟 How to Embrace Your Unique Journey:

Acknowledge Your Feelings: It’s okay to feel sad or disheartened. Give yourself permission to grieve the difference between expectations and reality. 💔
Seek Support: Connect with other parents who may have similar experiences. Sharing stories can be incredibly validating and comforting. 🤗
Focus on the Present: Celebrate the small victories and the unique moments that make your parenting journey special. These real experiences are worth cherishing. 🌟
Parenthood isn’t about perfection; it’s about love, growth, and adapting to the wonderful chaos of life. Embrace your path, be kind to yourself, and remember, you’re doing an amazing job. 💪💕

Drop a ❤️ if this resonates with you or share your own experiences. Let’s support each other in finding beauty in our imperfect, yet incredible, parenting journeys!

It’s Mrs. Kathryn’s favorite day of the year!! Amazon Prime Day! 🛍️🌟

Yesterday we spoke about how being a play therapists has also helped me become a pro speed cleaner. Well, unfortunately for my husband, it has also made me into a pro toy shopper!! 🚂🧸

We love a good deal around here, and we use Prime Day to stock up on a lot of supplies and wish list toys for the office!

Some of our favorite brands are:

What is everyone shopping for today?

✨friendly reminder that kids don’t need an abundance of toys to have healthy development, Amazon Prime Day is a luxury, not a necessity! Don’t feel pressure to buy every deal you see in order to provide for your child. Children need food, shelter, safety, and love! ✨

✨Self-Care Sunday✨

Self-care looks different for everyone because we all have different needs, desires, preferences, and priorities!!

By comparing ourselves to others, we create guilt, jealousy, and resentment.

Instead we need to simplify self-care and make it practical and achievable for US! ✅

What is something you can do to recharge a little bit each day? 🥰💝

✨Co-Regulation✨

Sometimes as parents we need to reframe and shift our perspective! When dealing with big emotions and behaviors, it’s natural to want “it” to stop, but what is “it”?!

Through co-regulation, we are capable of validating the child’s emotions, while encouraging healthy processing, coping, and felt-safety! 🧠❤️‍🩹

The next time your child experiences big emotions or behaviors, rather than trying to stop them, focus on connecting with them and regulating yourself!

Let us know how it goes below!! 👇

We are replacing the Sunday Scaries 😰with ✨Self-Care Sundays!!✨ Let’s start our week off right!

As parents we are constantly taking care of others, and when m we take time for ourselves we begin to feel guilty, or as if we could be doing something more productive 💻🧹🛒

But the truth is, we are not able to give the best versions of ourselves when we are burned out 🔥🚫

By doing one ☝️ thing a day just for you, you can be more present and productive in that on-going, never-ending, to-do list 📋

It doesn’t need to be extravagant or one specific thing. Each day may look different, but take time to take care of you! 💝
