Kat and I could not be together for New Year’s Eve this year. That is just part of the sacrifice when you are a military family. Tonight we will end up FaceTiming for the countdown. Until then I will enjoy watermelon chunks and. a jelly uncrustable, while my wife enjoys some movies and dinner at home with our cousin Sarah. See you all next year.

Going through some boxes and found a photo of me and Kat on our first date in 1996. We had only known each other for about 24 hours and it felt like he was already my soulmate for years. That night we sipped on wine coolers as his brother drove us around the city that I was not at all used to and amazed by. At one point Sal fell to the floor when flew over a big bump in the road! We laughed so hard 😆 When he looked up at me as he was trying to regain his seat, he said, “you don’t know it yet but you’re going to be my wife💜💜💜”
Somehow that wasn’t strange for me to hear.
I felt it, too💜💜💜
Somehow we knew💜💜💜 ❤️

Exploring Laredo in December at the Laredo center for the arts. Tonight there was an exhibit called Tamalada. It told the story of the evolution of tamales and how it still is embedded in today’s Latin cultures.

Can’t be with my family on thanksgiving day but so grateful for the military for providing some thanksgiving ambience and dishes for those of us at the Texas border.

Sometimes I am amazed on how much of our lives has been shared via FaceTime. This military lifestyle can sometimes destroy a marriage or family. It has not been easy, but we made it through the tough times and learned to make every moment that we did get together, count. I am so blessed to have my little family, Kat, Lani and Apria. ❤️🙏🏼

Highlights from our Costa Rica vacation. We highly recommend staying at the Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica all inclusive hotel. It was a great place for us to relax by the water, absorb the sun and focus on each other.

I won’t be able to see Katrina Jaso Alvarado on Mothers Day so I gave her, her Mother’s Day gift a week early. A canvas print with the words to our song and the date we met.
